After my 92 rodeo runs awhile it falls on its face then starts to idle at about 2500 rpm and wont stop. When I shut it off and try to restart it it starts real hard and acts like its flooded and blows smoke and real strong fuel odor. Ive replaced everything except the egr.

IAC - idle air control valve . What are the fuel trims at ? Are they with in + or - 10% short term an long fuel trims ? Do you know what fuel trims are ? What's the IAC counts at looking at scan tool data ? Or are you just guessing to find a fix ?

Sounds like a bad/large vacume leak.

Check the timing belt.

are you checking code with a small simple scanner this will not always work, a larger more sophisticated unit may find code or runs codes at over 2500 rpms when light comes on

i have an 88 dodge shadow turbo with a five speed. the car will fall on its face at 5500rpm coming out of first gear. and its rpm range gets lover with each gear. the fuel pressure rises when it fall on its face. the car never dies just falls then picks back up and will fall again unless you keep it under the that rpm. then it is fine. what could be the problem?

It's probably the mass airflow sensor and/or oxygen sensors.

i would try first to replace your fuel filter. this is an easy and cost effective way to solve this problem. the fuel filter should be located on the drivers side in the frame rail near the rear tire
