Find out what is causing noise from full steering lock on right and left , from stationery positon

Depends on what the noise sounds like. Some noise can be normal if you are holding the steering wheel at full lock . That is the pressure from the pump pushing hydraulic fluid through the steering box. If it is usually loud at the slightest turn..could be bad steering pump , leaking hose, leaking seal at steering box, even a bad belt.

Power steering issues

I'm going to agree with the rack conclusion. Keep in mind I can't see it for myself.
If you take the load off the front wheels, you should be able to turn the steering wheel without effort.
If the effort changes while turning the wheel, the only things affected would be the rack and the column.
If you notice it turns ok with the engine off but not with the engine running, it could be something with the pump or one of the lines, or still something with the rack.

My steering is very hard i need 2 hands to steer my car into a space i have to turn steering wheel with lots of effort

There could be a simple reason for this, you may need power steering fluid.THis can be checked under the hood.
Look for the power steering fluid reservoir and make sure its full.

Another problem may be the belt that turns the pump or the power steering pump itself.Usually there would be some noise associated with this.If this is the case have the car looked at by a mechanic.

Yes, i was parked in my driveway last night and my power steering engine light came on. I tried driving and the steering wheel was stiff, hard to move. I got up this morning and went out to start up the...

Your Malibu has Electronic assist steering.
Some malfunction occurred when the light came on.
May have been a loose connection. You will be able to steer the car if the malfunction re-appears. It will steer hard standing still but as you move it will get easier.
Best to take it to a shop and see if there are any codes stored to help locate the original power steering light malfunction.

Hard to steer when standing still.

Check up the steering system fluid and top up if necessary. Inspect the steering hydraulic system for leaks also. If you will find oil leaks repair & replace damaged pieces.

Steers hard to the left normal to the right

Hello vdc442: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. The steering rack is most likely your problem. The rack has seals inside of it. They start to leak internally and this causes the hard steer to one side. To repair the rack and pinion takes special equipment. The easiest way to repair is to replace the rack. This also takes special equipment in that the car will need realignment when done. Also this is a messy job.The changing of the rack can be difficult. But if you are mechanically inclined you should be able to do this. Make sure to chalk the tires and be sure to use Jack stands to support the car while working under the car.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the quality of the answer you received. THis way we know your answer helped. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Hard steering

There is no power steering fluid since the steering is manual. LOL It takes a little braun and muscles, it's a good form of exercise to look at the bright side, and most of all you save a lot of gas at the same time. Hey i wish my car was like that.

I have the same car and don't get bent at this answer .... but if you bought it used and don't know the full extent of the car check the computer and change the steering to low or normal effort ... High effort is harder than my z28 used to be ... and going around entrance/exit ramps you really have to put some effort into it ...
