Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I Have been through 3 clutchs in 2006 Xterra off-road 6 speed It is uncanny how these clutchs went. I have noticed many others are having same problem and someone online suggested some insight. The 2006 Model and models since have a 265 hp engine upgraded from 165 hp (as earlier models are equipped) however nissan is still using the same clutch as in the 165 hp truck which cannot handle the very high levels of torque thus blowin through clutch after clutch...please help?

I would go with an aftermarket performance clutch and pressure plate,as well as balance the flywheel, then bolt on the clutch assy and balance it all. Also, unrelated I balance all my drive shafts.

Hey -
Please write down your vin number and call the local dealer and ask for any recalls - this can save you thousands of dollars.
Also check for any Service Bulletins as well.

If nothing there - sadly - all you can do is to remove the flywheel and turn it - also - go to the racing truck after market clutch with stronger springs.
HERE is a website that has a lot of guys like you - maybe you can glean enough info to get your next clutch paid for.

Sadly sometimes the manufacturers run from their problems they cause.

I hope this helps -

Please vote me up if this helps at all.

Thanks

Oil change

I own a 2005 Xterra Off Road and if yours is an "Off Road" model, you have skid plates. Your oil filter is located behind a little door on the bottom of one of the skids. Two screws hold the door on. As for the oil pan, it is most likely just hidden by a skid as well. It will be on the very bottom of the engine.
