Question about 2003 Nissan Altima

2 Answers

2003 Altima-92000 miles. Low fuel light has never come on. We drove car on empty-within .5gal. Of cap. Self-diagnostic (trip meter button) shows lightbulb in dash is ok but put 12vdc on wiring at fuel tank and got nothing. Fuel pump assy. Replaced once around 45k miles. My next step would be to remove fuel level/pump assy and manually test the sensor. My question is... Does the self-diagnostic test only show that the bulb in the dash is o.k. Or does it tell me the sensor harness and bulb are o.k? Thank you.

You most likely have a break somewhere in the system. The light usually comes on at a eighth of a tank. The low fuel warning will not come on until fixed.

Just shows the bulb is OK.
Don't do anything until you have driven the car OUT OF GAS.
You just might see the light before that happens.

Burping noise from gas cap, and fuel irregularity once below 1/4 tank

theres two plugs on the fuel pump. one is for pump and one is for gauge if you take pump out of tank and put a volt meter on the two outer prongs in plug then the two inner two of them will read the same when yoou move the level up and down and when you put meter on other two it will change when you move level or the level part of pump isnt working correctly. my old tahoe did that and when it would get to a 1/4 of a tank i knew it was almost out of gas.

Just filled the gas tank in my 2006 f-350 turbo diesel super duty (6.0), started the truck and the guage showed a full tank. Drove down the road about 1/10 of a mile and the guage dropped to dead empty...

A loose connection on the sending unit could cause the problem but also moisture in the tank in cold weather could also be a factor in which i would add fuel line antifreeze to a full tank of fuel..........Hope this helps you out.

The check engine light is burning steadily. Found the fuel cap not on correctly. Replaced it. How long before the light will reset? 2008 cadi cts and have driven itabout 40 miles since......

Hello Friend:

If it is your fuel cap that made the Check Engine Light come on ,Its not how Many Miles you Drive,But I most Cases with that Prolem you'll have to make (3) trips That means Your Started it drove a Few Miles ,Turn it off,Don't hop right in it,Give it time to Cool down,Then make your 2nd Trip, and let it Cool Down again Then Make your 3rd Trip if its the Gas Cap normally it will turn the Light Out During your 3rd Trip.

Please Let me Know if this has Helped you By Voting on The Quality of My Solution.

The error that I'm showing for error code P1133 is
P1133 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) insufficient switching bank 1 sensor 1(Rear Bank).  I would suggest having both of your Oxygen Sensors replaced if you haven't already had that done.  Hope this helps.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa.

2001 Nissan Altima with service engine light on

I would check your intake gasket. Get your self ome carb cleaner in a spray form/can and perfrom this test. Run the car and spray the carb cleaner on your intake gasket which is right by your injectors. So pretty nuch spray it at the injector rail and listen fot change in idle, If the idle changes, the intake gasket is torn and you are running lean, because of a vaccum leak. Common problem on your model car. Perform test and let me know what you find.

Hi... i'm new to the foreign car market...

1st check the #4 fuse (10A) and #10 fuse (7.5A) on the 'under-dash' fuse block.
then #9 fuse (10A) on the 'engine bay' fuse block.

if the fuses are good, the gauge assembly has has "self-diagnostic" feature.

Self-diagnostic Procedure

The gauge assembly has a self-diagnosis function.
. The beeper drive circuit check
. The indicator drive circuit check
. The LCD segments check
. The gauges drive circuit check (speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, coolant temperature gauge)
. The communication line check (the coolant temperature signal line between the gauge and ECM/PCM)

Entering the Self-diagnosis Function:
1. Push and hold the trip/reset button.
2. Turn the lighting switch ON.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (ll).
4. Within 5 sec., turn the lighting switch OFF, then ON and OFF again.
5. Within 5 sec., release the trip/reset button, then push and release the button four times repeatedly.

NOTE:
. While in the self-diagnosis mode, the dash lights brightness controller operates normally.
. While in the self-diagnosis mode, the trip/reset button is used to start the beeper drive circuit test and the gauge drive circuit check.
. lf the vehicle speed exceeds 1.2 mph (2 km/h) or the ignition switch is turned OFF, the self-diagnosis mode ends.

The Beeper Drive Circuit Check:
When entering the self-diagnosis mode, the beeper sounds five times.

The Indicator Drive Circuit Check:
When entering the self-diagnosis mode. the indicators lights (such as: Seat belt indicator light, Door/hatch indicator light, Brake system light. Charging system light, Low fuel indicator light, maintenance required light) blink.

The LCD Segment Check:
When entering the self-diagnosis mode, the odo/trip segment blinks five times.

The Gauge Drive Circuit Check:
When entering the self-diagnosis mode, the speedometer, the tachometer, the fuel gauge, and the coolant
temperature gauge needles go from the minimum position to maximum position, then return to the minimum position.
NOTE:
After the beeper stops sounding and the gauge needles return to the minimum position, pushing the trip/reset button, starts the beeper drive circuit check {one beep), and the gauge drive circuit check again.
The check cannot be started until the gauge needles return to the minimum position.

The Communication Line Gheck:
In the seif-diagnosis mode, after the odo/trip LCD segments check, the self-diagnosis starts the communication line check.
lf all segments comes on, the communication line is OK.
lf the word" Error" is indicated, there is a malfunction in the communication line between the gauge assembly, the multiplex control unit, and the ECM/PCM,
f4a412b.jpgc169609.jpg
Ending the Self-diagnosis Function:
Turn the ignition switch OFF.

Note: lf the vehicle speed exceeds 1 .2 mph (2 km/h), the self-diagnosis function ends.
-----------------------

If everything works correctly during the check, check your VSS (vehicle speed sensor)
