It sounds like a leak in the water jackets,in that case you'll have to replace the heads. it could be moisture in the gas tank. when you check your oil if your oil looks like chocolate milk you have to have your heads examined for cracks

Hi my partner has locked our car after taking the battery out to charge it but we now can't use the beeper the key doesn't work in the door so how can we manually open the bonnet Fromm the exterior

You may have to try remove the front wheel on driver's side to see if you can identify the bonnet cable from the chassis back of dashboard/pedals

However, your best bet is to solicit the assistance of your type of car mechanic

Oil in coolant problems on my 2001 cadillac catera?

Sounds like the head-gasket blew and allowed oil into the coolant and coolant into the oil. Unfortunately, it's time for a tear-down and rebuild of the engine.

1997 toyota hilux broken bonnet release how to open bonnet

i assume you have tried pulling the cable including the outer insulator, then next step is from the front left corner of the bonnet!!:using a long 90 degree needle nose pliers, grab the black insulator and move towards the wing (important to only access here otherwise radiator/condensor can be damaged, if this fails then the end of cable BALL is broken! . access thru behind the grille FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE (locate the cable entry hole on the bracket, the release lever is onthe blind side of it ) good luck, tricky but a good pen flash light will be very useful. once open relace cable and TEST MECHANISM AND OPERATION without closing bonnet!

1994 toyota pickup blown head gasket. is that an easy fix? can i do it in my school autoshop and or driveway?

So the first question is ... is it really a blown head gasket? Could also be damaged head, block, etc and the timing chain can wear through it's housing and allow coolant into the oil. If it is a blown head gasket then why did it happen? Is the head warped, coolant passages corroded, or ?? Here's link to
a '93 manual to give you some idea what you're dealing with. Can you replace the gasket in shop or driveway ... depends on what sort of
complications you run in to. You may want to have a valve job done while you're there, maybe
time to do the timing chain, etc. Give it a try.

If this car needs head gasket is it worth buying

A head gasket repair is major work, not worth it unless the car is really nice and dirt cheap. One side note is that if this car has the 3.1 or 3.4 liter engine they are notorious for intake gaskets leaking that will have alot of the same symptoms as a head gasket but its alot less work to repair. Good luck!

I just bought a 2000 golf with 128000 miles. Is there any concerns in general? The from brake pad light is on, but other than that...I don't see or hear any problems. What might I need to check?

hi, V W's are very reliable cars and tend to age well but a few things to look for are any signs of accident damage at the front end, look under bonnet at all the panels behind the bumper, check for creases or new replaced panels.
If you see no damage then that is nothing to worry about as front end damage can be a nightmare to get lined up properly witch would then wear the tyres out.

Also listen for any knocking noises coming from the engine these are rare on v w's but listen if any knocking noises then walk away their might be a slight tapping noise but this isnt nothing to worry about as this would just be the tappets, ( if it was tapping and you wanted to put it right then it would involve replacing the hydraulic lifters that operate the valves this isnt a major job( a slight tapping noise is expected due to the age)

Check the oil for any signs of water if their was water present then the oil would look a grey in color if it does then walk away as this would mean blown head gasket.
Also check the water bottle for signs of oil it would look like thick froffy stuff floating in the water this would also mean head gasket problems( this to is not common fault with golfs, the engines are pretty good as long as their serviced regular)

try and get some proof its been looked after ie service dates and reciept of service parts.

If you find none of these problems then you have found a good car as long as you service it regular and look after it then they pretty much hold their own.

If you find any problems with the head gasket you could always get the price reduced by quite alot and then get the work done getting it done would ensure no future problems and would mean you got the car cheaper due to its faults.

They also pretty much hold their price when it comes to selling it on they dont lose as much money as say fords or peugeot.

Let me know if you need further assistance ok

Thanks for using

1993 Ford Tuarus Gl IN NEED OF HELP!

Well this could be in your timing. As cars get some miles on them the timing chain stretches therefore causing you car to lose alot of power. So you may want to have your timing set on this car. Also I had a taurus that had a bad torque converter, and it lost alot of power on hills and under loads, also when i gunned the gas pedal. so try the timing first. Hopefully you dont have a bad head gasket or a cracked head these symptoms you are describing are all signs of head gaskets or blown heads
