Mcdevito75 Here, Your local repair shop should check out this code and repair the problem. Depending on the problem it may not be wise to continue to drive the suv, Safety sake have it checked at your local shop.

Could the catalytic converter cause this code 2002 mitsubishi montero sport 3.5 p0161 code changed the o2 sensor and still get the same code could the catalytic converter cause this code

No it has nothing to do with the cat.
Code 161 is for a problem with the heater circuit for sensor 2 bank two. Either the heater in the sensor has failed, or the circuit that powers the heater is not working.

O2 Sensor defect

MR988905 costs $300+

SNG O2 sensor is just below $100

they may claim being made with the same quality and both are tagged "direct fit" for easy installation.

its just my idea, good luck.

I have a 2002 Montero Sport with a o2 sensor code. I had my neighbor replace the sensor and the check engine light went out, but as soon as I turned the car off and turn it back on the light came back on....

80 % of all O2 Sensor Codes are from Vacuum Leaks
or EVAP System Vacuum problems

Engine misfires also set them, to protect the exhaust converter

Have a repair shop get down to the real issue

2001 Montero Sport up stream oxygen sensor has failed. My check engine light came on and tried to drive vehicle at night and my lights went dim and the truck quit.

This has nothing to do with you O2 sensor. You have more than one problem. An O2 sensor will not cause what you just described. It will cause a check engine light but not the dimming of lights and a stalling issue. Check your charging sytem ( battery and alternator )

How do you change the O2 sensors?

The oxygen sensors, or O2 sensors, on a Mitsubishi Montero Sport are located under the vehicle. Models made prior to 1996 had only one sensor which was located on the catalytic converter, behind the exhaust manifold. Newer models have additional sensors located on the left and right sides of the manifold.

Code po154 what does it mean and what do i do to fix

Hi,
The reason for code po154 is that there is no activity detected on the Bank 2 Sensor 1 . But there is also a bulletin that reprograms the computer for a false readout. Basically you need to monitor the O2 sensor action. If it looks in good condition then the reprogram needs to be done. If not, you need to replace the O2 sensor.

Thank you !!

O2 sensor ihave 2000 sport i chg the sensor but the ck eng light is still on

You need to have the code read to tell you exactly where the problem is. Also you need to disconnect the batt for about 30 minutes to allow the computer to reset. And last but not least are you sure you replaced the proper O2 sensor, there are 2, one on the header and one behind the exhaust.

Is it possible to adjust a throttle position sensor on a 2000 montero sport?

when your vehical throws a code and you replace the defective part, you must clear the code or the ecm will still recognize it as an active code.
