Yes, if the throttle body has an adjustment screw, then leave 1/4 inch play.

Can you tell me how to do a cable adjustment so I can get the gears I'm missing please?

Make sure that the transmission oil level is up to the specified level and there is a slight play in the accelerator cable with the throttle pedal released. Follow the following diagram to adjust the transmission control cable.

I have a 08 uplander i just put a throttle body on and now i have a code p2070 intake manifold tuning valve stuck open how to i fix it

sounds like you have to do a cable adjustment.
if you have two people one of the easiest ways to do this is have someone inside the drivers sine press the gas pedal all the way to the floor.
Loosen up all the hold down cable connectors near the throttle body.
Re position cable tauntness so the valve body is open full and not a pinch more.
Tighten everything in place then release gas pedal.
you should have enough play in the cable for the sensors to register zero.
now clear the code should be no more problem, works on just about any car that has fuel injection.

You can't make any adjustments, the idle speed is controlled automatically by a computer called the ECM.

Need to replace a 1991 honda civic throttle cable?

These are fairly easy and straight forward to replace.
  • Start by removing the cable from the accelerator pedal. Climb under the dash and locate the cable at the back side of the pedal near the top. The cable is similar to the brake cable on a bike that has a knob at each end of it to retain it on the component. You can remove this by turning the cable so that it can slide out the notch on the side of the bracket and slide the knob out.
  • Next remove the cable from the throttle body. This is done very similar to what you just did under the dash. Turn the round bracket attached to the throttle body that the cable is wrapped around until the cable is loose and you can slide it through the notch in the side and slide the knob out.
  • Remove the cable from the mounting bracket. There are two 10mm nuts that lock it into place on the bracket.
  • Trace the throttle cable back to the firewall and remove it from all of the retaining clips.
  • Pull the cable through the firewall. The rubber grommet will come with it.
  • Install the new cable in the reverse order.
  • When you are re-installing the two 10mm nuts near the throttle body, these nuts are used for the adjustments. When the cable is installed on the throttle body, it doesn't need to be really tight, in fact there should be a slight amount of play in the cable. You can use the two 10mm nuts to adjust this.

Good Luck!

How do you know when the throttle position cable is adjusted properly

when it is adjusted properly there should be slight play in the cable by the throttle at the intake when you push on the throttle cable with you finger before it tries to move the throttle.

The clutch pedal on Suzuki vitara two litre V6 1998 goes to about inch of floor before activation. Clutch does not slip just too much pedal travel. Is it possible to adjust it? ...

prev.gif next.gif Clutch ADJUSTMENTS 1997-98 Models CLUTCH PEDAL HEIGHT The clutch pedal height should not be a periodic adjustment but may be checked after components of the mechanical clutch system have been replaced. The proper clutch pedal height should be 0.2 in. (5mm) above the brake pedal height If adjustment is necessary, loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting bolt until the appropriate height is reached. Once set, keep the bolt from turning and tighten the locknut to secure the adjustment. CLUTCH PEDAL FREE-PLAY The clutch pedal free-play should be checked from time-to-time in order to assure proper clutch operation. The proper clutch free-play should be 0.6-1.1 in. (15-25mm). Fig. 1: Pedal free-play is adjusted at the joint nut (2), while keeping the outer cable nuts (3) tightened around the center cable thread portion 7924hg30.gif
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. If the free-play must be adjusted, turn the joint nut (2) located at the transmission end of the clutch cable in or out, as necessary to achieve the proper play.
  3. Once the correct pedal free-play is obtained, check the free-play on the release arm (c), it should be 0.02-0.06 in. (0.5-1.5mm).
1999-01 Models These vehicles are equipped with a hydraulic clutch system. No adjustment is necessary.

When I press the gas pedal nothing happens until I press it like half way down then it "catches" and takes off, what could be the problem & how can I fix this? Thanks

sounds like the throttle cable is in need of adjustment, push the gas pedal down with your hand to see if it is just free play(only the return spring pressure may be felt if it is)with someone looking at the throttle body for movement.Dont do it up too tight, leave a little slack in the cable.....

Too much play in throttle pedal can i adjust the cable

There should be an adjuster under the hood where cable hooks into the bracket that will give you a little bit better feel but usually when those cables get stretched its best to just replace the throttle cable.
