It might be try the following...
1.) disconnect the IAC (idle air control motor) and start the vehicle

you might set a code and turn on the check engine light, but if the engine doesn't start and run at a high idle then you know you are on the right track

the computer could be commanding the high idle on start up for a few different reasons or the IAC could just need replacement

without a professional scan tool you will have to guess

however, the IAC should be less than $40 at any parts store

this is easy, to find, but can be many things, my tests cut this to 2 reasons. mostly. (leaks and isc failure tests)
1: ISC system is dead, (stuck idle speed contr. valve)
2: throttle cable stuck or set wrong, (must have slack)
3: vacuum leaks, on all cars with map sensors, vacuum leaks make the ISC loose control and RACES fast with full engine power. all MAP based EFI SYSTEMS, "speed density systems:

Have '89 toyota celica ST, 3S FE engine, the primary coil inside the distributor cap exploded, releasing its oil and fried the pickup coil. Replaced with new distributor and throttle position senser....

It sounds like the airflow switch is not closing. Do you have the airflow meter connected? Is the intake pipe fully installed? I just fixed a 91 pickup that had the same problem.

1990 isuzu pickup started to run full blast

Not the pedal, but the accelerator cable can sometimes get jammed inside it's protective sheath or cover. This happened to me. Look at your threottle control on the throttle body. Is the throttle in its normal idle position?

1995 nissan pickup throttle position sensor

ok on a 2.4l on the black/green and white wires use ohm meter and there is no specific spec for that engine just make sure the the resistance changes and there is no dead spots. for the 3.0l black and white wires specs are 1.0-9.0k ohms im guessing the specs are the same either engine. close to full open

1992 Cadilla Seville will not restart after it has run for about an hour. Must leave for several hours before it will restart

sounds like a temparature sensor problem - mixture is too rich to start hot. try starting it with full throttle - if it will start after 15 seconds of full throttle and cranking the temp sensor is definitely at fault - you wont flood the engine doing this only give more air to the engine.

sometimes the gasket under the trottle body goes bad. spray carb cleaner at the base of the trottle (not down into it) body while the engine is running. if the idle changes your on the right track. its an easy gasket to change.

1999 S10 Pickup miss fire

Your throttle position sensor should be located on the throttle body opposite of where the throttle cable hooks on too. Look for a small black box on the other side with wires leading into a connector. get your codes read and re post them it could be a simple fix.
