Question about 2003 Jaguar X-Type

X type engine management light

My 51 X Type suddenly lost power and we crawled home at 5 miles per hour!
The engine management light came on at the same time.
When I got it to the drive and let it stand for 1/2 an hour it is OK

What could that be?

Lost acceleration, steering and engine cut off. Oil light came on. What could be wrong?

Oil light came on? Yikes! That's about the worst thing that can happen to the engine. Don't try to run the engine or you will completely ruin it. Can you check the oil level or have someone else check it? Did something happen that would have caused the oil to leak out of the engine (like going over a curb and bottoming out)? Did you have someone or a shop change the oil? Maybe the oil drain plug wasn't properly replaced.
Get the proper type and quantity of oil into the engine before you try anything else. Good luck and I hope it's not too late.

I only get 15 miles to gallonh

Hi Vicky, take the vehicle for a scan and first determine if there are any faults in the management system. Keep in mind that many different factors determine the fuel efficiency of you vehicle and here are a few. 1) The air pressure in the tyres (tires) 2) The wheel bearings. 3) The engine condition. 4) Binding of brakes. 5) The oil used for engine lubrication. 6) The type of oil used in the gear box, (particularly if it is a manual box). 7) The type of oil used in the Transfer box and differential. 8) Wheel alignment 9) State of engine tune. All of the above will have a contributing factor to the miles per gallon of any vehicle. Hope this gives you some reasons to mull over. Regards John

Car lost power and started putting out black

The rubber pipe feeding air from the intercooler to the bottom of the EGR valve is probably split - this was the problem on mine - exact same symptoms!

Stalling, 'reduced power' light, and OBD code P1125 Manufacturer control air metering...

My name is Juan Heredia and I'm an ASE certified technician. I have seen this code and this driveability issues before, I will need a little more information about your car to tell you exactly what your problem is, Honda has two different types of throttle bodies for this especific vehicle, drive by wire and cable operated, if your vehicle uses the drive by wire type I would highly recommend to replace the throttle body actuator, if it uses the cable operated one it will be necesary to do a little more testing, let me know if this helps
