Question about 1994 Mazda MPV

2 Answers

My 94 MPV won't turn over. The battery seems to be ok, and the lights and radio work but nothing happens when I turn the key. I believe I can hear the starter motor jump gear engage the ring gear, but the engine does not turn over. Any ideas?

If it clicks but doesn't turn over and the engine isn't seized up then your starter probably just isn't getting enough juice, so have your battery tested then check to see if there is voltage at the B+ terminal on the starter solenoid. If you got voltage then check to make sure the battery and engine are grounded properly. If all is good there and still just a click from the solenoid then replace your starter.

Car won't start, seems to have power, all lights working. when I turn the key nothing happens. this only happens sometimes

Could be a bad alternator.. It may not be holding charge. Or your starter could have failed.

Though I've had the same problem and it was a dead battery in my vehicle. Had enough power, but to keep the car on..

My saturn ion 2005, 2.2l engine will not turn over, is it the ignition switch?

That sounds like battery--wiring-or starter. Check the battery voltage. It should be 12.6. volts with engine off. Clean the battery terminals.

Won't start, lights work and radio also but will not turn over

If lights work, radio but not turn over. First of listen to see if it clicks when turning key, if that happens most likely it is the solenoid on the starter not triggering, if you hear nothing when turning the key, then the cable coming from the battery that goes down to the starter is loose, bad connection. Make sure that the cable from battery is tight, and clean. If Like I said you hear a click when trying to start car, then it is starter/solenoid issue. I hope this helps, if it does please rate my free advice accordingly> Thanks Mike. and check out my personal expert site....

Check your fusible links (wires that act like a fuse). The fusible links are located on the battery post on the starter, and some are located on the positive battery cable.
