Ok you can take the egr valve off and clean it and if that works you my need to take it to get reset on codes other then that also check vacum lines if these do not work you will have to replace and i hate saying that because this part is high.. good luck to you and have a blessed day..

try replacing the DPFE, go to the ford dealer and take them your VIN and ask them for a DPFE, your egr valve is sticking open due to the failure of the DPFE and causing multiple misfires in your engine

No, which kind of surprised me!! Depending on the engine and drivetrain, some 1996 transmissions will work.

2004 Ford Explorer XLT.....The radio and gas gauge quit

The check engine light will represent fault codes that the computer is sensing. Have a mechanic, or go to your local auto parts superstore and have them scan for the fault codes. This will at least give you an idea about some of your problems.

Locating the erg valve

It is located above the engine, right behind the air intake mainfold. Check beside the air Hose that goes to the engine, there you will find the valve held by two bolts. It looks like a round metallic object connected to several wires.
