Is it automatic or manual? I am thinking manual, the bearing is only 1/2 long. get a 2x4 in there and pry it apart. Did you remove the starter? Does the tranny rock left and right? Did you drop the rear of the tranny to get a tilt on the engine? If you did, you might as well pull the whole thing out and work on it on the floor. I can't think of anything that would stop it from coming apart. I know the automatic has 1 1/2" hole for the pinion, but nothing goes in it. So I am thinking the standard might have the same hole with a big bearing in it. Check it out.

If the engine cannot turn by hand with the cam removed then it is a problem on the crankshaft or con rods. It could also be water on top of the pistons that cannot compress. Remove the injectors and see if the engine will turn a full circle. if water comes out remove the head and check the gasket or head for cracks. Please reply if it is a single or dual cam.

Now i dont know a lot about automatics especially modern ones with all this fancy electronics thats used nowdays but i think its a fault with the temperature sensor for the gearbox. But where its located and what it looks like i have no idea it could even be mounted inside the gearbox .Sorry not a very good answer from a mechanic but?? very few of our europeon cars come with auto transmission .Evan when i do know whats wrong i cannot buy the parts for the gearbox as only re-con boxes supplied by the dealer so best advice is to try a specialist in auto box repairs only .PS some of my best students when i used to teach mechanics many moons ago were the girls so no excuses like iam only a girl please

I have a 2000 AWD Chrysler Town and Country. I need to change the output shaft oil seal on the transfer case that goes to the prop shaft and to the back axle. Do I drop the prop shaft down and then...

you are correct on the whole sequence you explanined, just be sure to have a pan to catch the fluid that will come out of the trans when you pull the output shaft out.. as far as how tight to put the nut back on, cant really anwer that question...it doesnt have a crush sleeve or anything in to to worry about messing up, so as long as its tight you will be fine, just dont crank on it excessively.

Emergency brake stuck on 96 land rover cant find cable underneath carriage, is there a secondary release.. this is soooo stupid.. I feel I've looked everywhere please hepl..

Probably the same set up as my 96 Discovery, Automatic transmission. The emergency brake is the drum (looks like a big metal flywheel, about 14 inches diameter) on the output of the center differential going to the drive shaft for the rear wheels. There is a short cable from there up to the driver's lever. By disconnecting the rear drive shaft, the e-brake drum can be removed. Its pretty heavy, so don't drop it on your knogan.

98 Plymouth Voyager gets stuck in gear until I turn it off and on

if it gets stuck into second, on a dodge this is called limp mode. two sensors on the front of trans accesible by removeing the air box only. they have a black/cream colers face with 2 wires on each. the one by the engine is the input speed sensor(turbine rpm) the one towards the wheel is the output. if the output fails the speedo will stop working and trans will slam into second. if input goes will fault the same but no indicators. the pigtail wires break after yeas of flexing also. pigtails and sensors are avail anywhere sensor is about 20 bucks just specify in or out put. u can test too by unplugging test the sensor w a ohm meter on lowest avail scale, if any reading-its good, if overload-its pooh. this is if its a A604 4speed trans, pans is square w engine side of pan has a squiggle in it. and that trans buzzes when put into gear(normal) now if its a A670 3 speed trans, which is all mechanically controlled, there is a cable/linkage that goes from the engine throttle body down to the trans. on the trans shifter input shaft, its hollow, there is another shaft inside. this moves w the gas pedal to tell the trans how long to wait to shift and how hard to shift. the shaft on the trans get rusty and seized all the time on these. wd-40 the heck out of it and work it back and forth untill it moves freely independent of the shifter linkage. it only is moved by the throttle one way so the spring cant return it on its own when it starts rusting up... pheww- i hate typing this trans has a perfectly rectangular pan. good luck and let me know what you come up with!

Cant get my 95 cabrio's transmission out

Turn the transmission clock wise to posiotion the disfferencial at 10 o'clock. Pull it away from the engine as you lift the tail. You could take it out on your own, but need the help of another to put it on if you are not in a shop with all the tool. Hope this helps.
