Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Car has hard starting, fuel pump is good, and ignition system is good. There are no current trouble codes.

Does it start back up right away ? Check ignition system , check fuel pump pressure an flow an current ramp fuel pump electrical circuit . Could have crankshaft position sensor problem , ignition module . What engine does yours have 3.1 l v-6 or the 2.4 L 4-cylinder ? Lots of good trouble shooting videos on youtube ! Car will not start but turns over. later it starts and runs for a week. now the car will not start again. tried replacing the coil pack. fuel pump does work.

This is how your problem is solved in my shop. Out of the box, I'd say that you have a problem with the fuel management system. However, there's a good chance that it's something simple and inexpensive like a clogged fuel filter or water in the fuel tank.

First a little background for your edification. You may be aware of all this but we've never done business before and all assumptions are off the table.

For an engine - make that any engine and irrespective of manufacturer - to run, you need three things to happen inside the engine, compression, fuel and ignition, without any one of these components the engine will not run.

Compression - Engine compression caused by crankshaft rotation and pistons moving up and down inside the engine block. If the timing belt or timing chain fails it will cause the camshaft to become out of correlation with the crankshaft or allow the camshaft to stop rotating. Either of these conditions will cause the engine to lose compression and sometimes cause internal engine damage.

Fuel Delivery System - The fuel system includes: fuel pump, fuel injectors, pressure regulator, fuel filter and pressure lines. This system is used to supply fuel under pressure to the fuel injection system, the lack of fuel pressure or volume will cause the fuel delivery system to fail and the engine to stall or not start.

Ignition Spark Delivery System - The ignition system components include: spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor (if applicable), crankshaft angle sensor, camshaft angle sensor, ignition coil, ignition module, knock sensor and PCM (powertrain control module). The engine relies on the ignition spark to be delivered to the combustion camber at the correct time. If the ignition spark stops or is delivered at the wrong time the engine will not run or run poorly.

If Your Engine Cranks but Does Not Start, runs rough, staggers, sags or cuts off, follow this Troubleshooting Guide. Some of these steps require a code scanner. They are costly but AutoZone will loan you one for FREE.

Most vehicles operate by the same principle; basic troubleshooting procedures apply to most cars.

Step 1: Anytime you have a problem with electronically controlled components such as an engine, transmission, ABS brake, or SRS (supplemental restraint system, Air Bag) inspect all fuses using a test light and check the under hood power distribution center and under dash fuse panels. If all fuses test okay continue to the next step.

Step 2: To check for problems with electronically controlled components such as an engine, transmission, ABS brake, or SRS (supplemental restraint system, Air Bag) and the fuses test okay a trouble code scan is needed to identify any system trouble. Use a simple scanner tool to retrieve trouble codes and see if they relate to the specific problem, like a crank angle sensor failure code. If the trouble code present does not pertain to the immediate problem like an EVAP code ignore it until a later time, after the car is running.

No fire to fuel pump

You say its not the not the starter,alterrnater or Battery. What do you have to base this on?
What happens when you turn the key?
How much fuel do you have?
Do you have an imobiliser?

I put new spark plug and wires ,new battery so what should I do next to make start because it's cold here in chicago


WHEN TROUBLE SHOOT CAR CHECK FOR SPARK AT PLUGS FIRST IF NO.CHECK IGNITION FUSE TO IGNITION COIL OR COILS AND IGNITION MODULE.IF FUSE GOOD CAR NEED SCANNING FOR CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAULT OR IGNITION MODULE FAULT.IF IGNITION SYSTEM OKAY CHANGE FUEL FILTER IF NOT BEEN CHANGED LONG TIME..CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HEAR FUEL PUMP RUN IN FUEL TANK WHEN YOU TURN IGNITION KEY ON FOR 3 SECONDS.THE FUEL PUMP WILL TURN ON 3 SECONDS THEN TURN OFF.IF YOU HEAR NO FUEL PUMP.CHECK FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH GOOD.STILL HAVE CAR CODE SCANNED FIRST.

My car turn but won't start


YOU COULD HAVE DEFECTIVE IGNITION SYSTEM.CHECK TO SEE IF SPARK PLUGS GETTING FIRE.IF NOT.YOU COULD HAVE A BAD COIL OR DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR.IGNITION TIMING OFF.ALSO CHECK IGNITION FUSE.MAKE SURE PLUGS AND WIRES IS GOOD.IF IGNITION SYSTEM IS WORKING.YOU COULD HAVE FUEL PROBLEM.LISTEN FOR FUEL PUMP OPERATION WHEN YOU TURN IGNITION KEY TO ON POSITION WITH ENGINE OFF.IF YOU HEAR NO SOUND.CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH IS GOOD.FUEL PUMP IS FAULTY.IF FUEL PUMP IS WORKING.HAVE FUEL PRESSURE CHECK.IF SHOULD BE 41 - 42 PSI.IF LOW REPLACE FUEL FILTER.IF CAR IS GETTING SPARK AND FUEL YOU HAVE OTHER MECHANICAL PROBLEMS LIKE INTAKE GASKET LEAK.TO SPEED UP TROUBLE SHOOTING PROCESS HAVE CAR HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER.

My 04 kia optima will not start


check make sure battery is 12.5 volts.if not battery is weak need replacing.have alternator checked out if battery is low.besure to turn off radio.to keep from losing radio playing code.if you need to replace battery.if battery is good.check for fuel pump operation.turn ignition on listen to see if fuel pump running.if no check fuse and relay.if both is good have car scanned for pcm trouble codes and faulty fuel pump code.if all is good.you could have faulty mass air flow sensor or bad ignition components.

Fuel pump 1990 shadow


it does sound like a fuel pump problem and they are fairly easy. but make sure the ingtion system is good first. those cars are bad on distributor caps and rotor also the coils when the car is running good spray water with a spray bottle over the ignition system if the car dies you should start their. good luck
