You don't have too, but lucas oil is a fantastic addiditive that will last much longer. I add to to rear end, transfer case and oil. They also make a tranny additive as well.

Front and rear diff on olds bravada I was wondering if I should drain and add gm fluid with gm additive

if the diff oils is in need of a change then it would be wise to change the oils
if the additive is an approved GM additive then it will not hurt to add it
just make sure that the diff's are not limited slip diffs as they require a special oil and then the additive may not be suitable for the oils

1993 iSUZU TROOPER HYDROLIC LIFTER NOISE GETTING LOUDER SHOULD I BRING IT IN FOR REPAIR? CAN THIS NOISE BE RELIEVED BY AN OIL ADDITIVE?

no what you do is to add a half litre of diesel to the oil and 3 good squirts of fairy liquid ,got to be fairy and no cheap one.then run vehicle around for a day or so and the noise will stop ,Then change oil and filter and from then on change oil every 5000miles and a oil filter every third oil change ,use a diesel/petrol oil the cheapest you can buy and the diesel /petrol oil will have detergent in it which will keep the inside of the engine clean and prevent clag from forming which is what is causing your hydraulic tappet stick thus making a noise .

I am considering changing the lobe in the rear axle. My parts store said just add to it don't change it. My service manual says change it at 100,000 miles. What is appropriate?

Always follow the manufactures recomendations, I believe there is a additive for that rear end, check with the dealer, I wouldn't use an after market additive for it, get it from the dealer. It doesn't hurt to ask., and ask if you can use the synthetic lube, it's better oil.

My chev 2500 deasal keeps stalling

how recently have you changed the fuel filters?have other people used the truck?have you tried a commercial diesel fuel additive(power service) to help eliminate the algae that can grow if unchecked, with a diesel it usually amounts to a fuel or air issue so start by checking these areas, don't forget the air filter needs changed at regular intervals and fuel filters are the last line of defense on a diesel vehicles and water and algae are the enemy.
hope this helps.

Ford Ranger diesel has noisy tappets until truck

Hi my name is Tom and I am here to help you.

I drove a diesel Chevy and had the same problem.

I reduced the noise by dropping my oil to a lower viscosity at the low end and keeping the high end the same. i.e. If O.E.M. recommends a 10W30 dropped to a 5W30. This will give you coverage at the high side and lower viscosity at the low end.

There are after market additives which are formulated to lubricate the tappets. Any parts store should be able to recommend which is best. Follow the instructions and do not add too much. They contain a "sticky" nature which could defeat the dropping of your lower viscosity.

I trust this answered your question. If I can be of further help, let me know.

Rear end noise on 2002 Dodge ram 1500

If you have a positraction differential, you need posi additive along with the new lube. After it's in, take it to a parking lot and make tight left turns then tight right turns to get the lube between the posi plates. That usually frees it up unless there is an actual mechanical problem in the diff.
good luck!
