Question about 1998 Lexus ES 300
The inside of the muffler is most likely falling apart,the popping noise is most likely the tie rod ends,or the ball joints,you can check the tie rods by lifting the two front wheels up off the ground by jacking the car up,and lock the steering wheel straight,moving the wheels with your hands like you where turning in,right,and left,and look at the tie rod ends to see if they are worn out and giving,one wheel will move before the other one,and the center link might move up ,and down if the idle arm is bad also.
