Somehow my car slipped time. i replaced the cam positioning sen.

Somehow my car slipped time. i replaced the cam positioning sensor and still nothing. my timing belt isnt loose or broken either. what can i do?

Special tools are needed to set up cam timing, so if it was off you couldnt tell. Have a repair shop that you trust (stay away from chain stores) check it out, and recommend repairs.

I replaced the camshaft position sensor P0340, now the OBD is reading a PO0016

This vehicle does not have a Camshaft Position Sensor. The manufacture does make references to "CAM" in some of the trouble code descriptions but this is NOT a reference to a Camshaft Position Sensor.

Notes On System Inputs

The EI module does not receive a signal from the crankshaft position sensor. Instead the CPK sensor signal is being received and processed by the PCM. The El module does, however, contain circuitry to determine camshaft position without using a camshaft sensor, by use of compression sense ignition (CSI).

Camshaft


Most likely yes. It's not that the cam is out of position (that's controlled by the timing belt, so as long as the belt hasn't slipped, the cam is where it should be). What's more likely is that the cam sensor has gone bad, as you're suggesting, and it's not able to tell the computer the position of the cam, or it's telling the computer that the cam is in a position that the computer knows it can't be.

Replace the cam sensor and you'll be fine.
