Question about 2001 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

2001 Ford Expedition dome lights, wippers and windows dont work. Live in Cali water is not the problem. One day my husband went to start the vehicle and it would not work. I went online to see how I could help him, and I asked him to put it in neutral and turn it on like someone had posted. Now the vehicle starts on park with no problem but now the windows wont go down, the dome lights dont turn on and the windshield wippers dont work. He has checked all the fuses as stated on similar postings and he states that they all appear to be fine. Is there a fuse that he may be missing where should he check what fuse or relay should he relpace or what else should he attempt. Is there a color or cord I should tell him to check on under the hood or under driver side I dont know I just sound smart when I give him suggestions that I find in the computer and it works. Thanks to all of you that post your similar problems. Thank you for all your solutions.

I would say you sound smarter, than most of the lost soles on here, with vehicle issues.
Have him check out the transmission selector switch, mounted on the side of the trans just above the oil pan,I believe on the driver side.
Now how he is going to check it. I would say your best bet would be to go to a shop and have them put a scanner on the vehicle. That way they can look at all kinds of data.
They need to find your problem and it may turn out to be,that your items that don't work now,are not supposed to,when starting the vehicle.
Now that isn't real helpfu,l but I don't have the vehicle,so I can not do the testing for you.

the old keys or another expedition key can be reprogrammed to your vehicle, the only thing is you would have to change the lock cylinder to match the key or swap the ignition from another expedition with that has the key

Do you have a check engine light? When it wouldn't start, was it cranking over? Sounds like it could be a transmission range switch.
