Take the wheel off the one thats grinding and find out why. You may have a heat shield that got bent and rubbing on the brake rotor.

Sometimes limited driving can affect the front brake pads and rotors due to corrosion, and dirt...inspect the pads for being worn unevenly...and the rotors for warping...the rotors would also cause the steering wheel to shake when applying the brakes...A small fix for a nice low mileage Ranger:) Hope this helps.

1994 ford ranger 4x4 hubs make grinding/clicking noise after taken out of four wheel drive

I think yours has the automatic locking hubs that slide over the the rotor hub. If this is the case than what has probably happened is a u-joint has gone bad and wiped out that auto hub.

Be prepared for some sticker shock on those hubs. they are not cheap. The usual fix for this is to replace the front axle ujoints and what ever hub is making the noise, hopefully just one.

My son has a 03 explorer it started pulling grinding and the rotor looks good ? left back side

it could be that the break pads are touching metal to metal on the rotors. and there binging up but if he drives it this way you are going to have to buy new rotors or get them turned.

2001 Ford Ranger SRS brakeks and bearing problems

Your truck has sealed bearings in the front but they can go bad after several miles. If the truck is not stopping straight or you are getting a pulse through the break pedal (and sometimes a shimmy in the steering) then it's time to replace the rotors and pads. If the truck is stopping and driving fine then I wouldn't worry about it.

did you just get the vehicle? was it sitting in some wet weather? could be the break pads and shoes have "frozen" to the rotors or drums. does it seems like it wants to move but when you press the accelerator it wont?

Front Passenger brakes rubbing

Dis brakes have residual pressure thar keeps the pads in constant contact with the roter. It is very light contact, so not to worry. If left is not in contact with rotor then chk it for loose wheel bearings.

Did you check the rotors to see if they were cracked or 'thin' ? Rotors sometimes get really thin with use.And they can crack. Or as in one case that I know of there was sand between the rotor and the pads. The pads were also new. Removed the gravelly sand and they worked fine.
