Question about Nissan Pathfinder

1 Answer

Pathfinder 96. I just bought a new motor and a regulator for a non-working automatic window. Driver window. I have never done this job. I already pulled the door panel off. And looked into the electronic plate. Only the drivers side window doesn't respond to tests. What next? I don't have the book. How hard is it to pull the motor out?

Thanks for your help! We changed the motor and regulator and it didn't do it. So it seems the problem is the switch on the control board.

Removing the motor isn't very difficult, but care should be taken to prevent the window from slipping from its' frame. I'd suggest 2 things to prevent problems. 1. Secure the window so it doesn't move while your working on the motor and related mechanism and 2. take a picture of the inside of the door to use as reference in installing new motor.
You should also label the wires so you know how to re-attach.

Thanks for you advices. I can't really move my window at this point. It's stuck in place. Would it make it harder or even easier to put the new motor in?

Window went down wont go back up

It's probably the window regulator inside the door. It's also probably a cable setup. They aren't hard to replace, just make sure you don't drop the window. Cost around $100

Take motor out and feed it juice - will turn. Reverse polarity and it should turn in other direction.

99 camry rear driver side window came off track.sounds like motor still hard to repair or costly to have done.

The regulator wires have broken. This is a do it yourself job if you are handy in the garage. You can buy the window regulator with or without electric motor. Your dealer is more expensive but will give you the right one. E-bay is cheaper but if it does not fit then what? Figure 1 to 1 1/2 hours if it is your first time. I highly recommend the Haynes automotive manuals. They are indespensable for the home repairman. They cover most foreign and domestic autos and trucks. They will have step by step insructions with photos for your job.

Replace motor on power window on drivers front

the car is 12 years old, all the regulators have done their job, especially the driver door. go to a parts store and buy a new regulator, or buy one on ebay, and pay a glass shop to install it. it makes no sense to put a new motor in a used regulator, the gearing will finish stripping out next year and you will have the labor cost again. The labor to remove and replace the motor in the regulator, usually riveted in, is much more than just pulling and tossing the old regulator and installing a new one. once you have replaced a regulator you would gladly pay anyone twice the 50 bucks a glass store charges for this job. they have the tools, the fasteners and the expertise.

The driver window went out how to replace the motor on a acura cl 3.0

If you are sure it is not the switch, go to ebay and find a replacement window regulator. This is the mechanism with new gears and motor. Then go to an auto glass company and pay them to put it in. Stay away from Accura dealers as they will soak you. Kind of complicated and often special tools are needed. Usually much faster and job is done better by someone who does it all the time and is familiar with the many different styles of window regulators.

Window won't go up

Driver side or all of the windows is not working? first check fuses and relays, assume the fuse and relays are good, check the main windows switch, cheap to replace, no way testing them but go to the junk yard and get it for nothing like 10 bucks and replace them and see if that work, worth replacing them first before tearing to your door. If the switch is not the problems than it could be your windows regulator which located with your windows motors. regulator or the motors can be faulty. The unit come together in one piece when replacing. 90-100 bucks for new, use from junk yard will be 25-30 buck, the bad part is that you might have to pull it your self. if your driver side is not working more likely it will be the regulator or the motor, if all your windows is not working is more likely will be your main window switch control.
