Question about Hyundai Motor 2003 Elantra

1 Answer

The driver's seat in my 2003 Hyundai Elantra will not adjust. A few days ago, the seat seemed to snap and now the seat adjusters don't work and I can no longer raise the front edge of the seat. Is this something that I can repair? I found a large spring under the seat but I'm not sure where it goes. Also, the seat is secure on the tracks. It seems to be an issue only with the adjusters.

If you take the seat right out of the car and turn it upside down you can see quite plainly how it is covered/sprung and how the adjusters work(wire cables)once out,you really cant make any mistakes as you can see it all.

There is a lever on the left side by your **** that tilts the seat forward or back. There are knobs on the side that you turn to raise the seat front up or down, there is a handle under the front of the seat that you either pull up or pull to the left to slide the seat front or back. And depending on the seat there might be a lever on the left side of the seat back that controls how much lumbar support.

I have a new 2009 Elantra, three weeks old. ''Passenger Air Bag Off'' light stayed on while driving to work. With car running, went around and sat in passenger seat, made adjustments, etc. Light went out...

That light is letting you know that there is insufficient weight on the seat - so the sensor did not turn on the airbag.

The next time you turn the vehicle on - it will do the same... if there is not ??45lbs?? in the seat.

If there is nobody in the seat and the light goes out - the sensor (or under-seat wiring) is bad.

My 2004 elantra gt (5 speed) will not start. When i push in the clutch, it acts as if the clutch was not pushed in at all. after a few minutes of manipulating the clutch in and out, it will finally start....

It's probably a loose wire or adjusting nut on the clutch switch. Check and adjust it. Look under the dash on top of the clutch pedal arm there's a simple push button switch like the brake light switch. Even if you need a new switch it's only $10.
