What would cause a 2005 PT Cruiser to lurch intermittently?

This would be very good justification for you to buy a cheap OBDII scanner through Amazon or your local auto parts store. Next time it happens, plug the scanner in immediately and read the error code(s) out of the computer. Then you'll know what's happening. The failure is intermittent, whatever it is, so you need to catch it while the error code is still "live".

Reset check engine light on a 2008 Buick Enclave without going to a garage

Anyone with a scanner can erase the codes and reset the light. On older cars, you could just remove the negative battery post for a few minutes, but that is not recommended for newer cars. Erase codes with a scanner.

Code 15 on 1988 ram 150 without vehicle speed sensor

Code 15 relates to a failure in the vehicle speed sensor circuit. The job of the vehicle speed sensor is to inform the computer about the speed of the vehicle so the computer can calculate engine load and prepare the engine idle speed control system while the vehicle is decelerating. On deceleration, the idle speed control system will allow additional air flow into the engine as the vehicle rolls to a stop. Usually code 15 will be accompanied by erratic speedometer readings (or no reading), erratic AT gear shifting, TCC lockup clutch instability, and intermittent or complete failure of the cruise control.

Check engine light comes on and only stays on for a few seconds, havent noticed anything different when it happens... ???

You can get free scans at Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys. Sometimes a better scanner is needed at a Dealer because the cheaper scanners need a "check engine" light to be on steady to get a reading.
The better Dealer scanners can access "Intermittent defects" logged in your onboard computer. It all depends on the design of the onboard computer as some will accumulate the Intermittent defects and may set a steady "Check" code after a number of defects are registered. Other designs may just ignore or lose the intermittent info.

Mas aie flow sencer

Did you mean the mass air flow sensor ! hear are some problems that accure. So, MAF failure will create a wide variety of performance and power problems. These may include: hard to start vehicle; starts and immediately stalls; hesitation in engine; rough idle; running very rich or very lean fuel mixture; or "hiccup" when accelerating.
If you suspect MAF sensor failure and the check engine light is on, a auto parts store can read the computer code for free as long as light is on with a code scanner or even sell you a code scanner. An auto repair shop can also check the codes fairly easily. But if the check engine light is not on and you suspect MAF failure, try the cleaning the maf sensor first. good-day !.

I have a Nissan Sentra XE 2000 Ocasionally gets an overdrive light, the car boggs down, and won't move. When the light goes out it will run ok. but it comes and goes intermittently. More now than then....

start with scanning your system with CONSULT2. unfortunatelly this tool is only available at your friendly nissan dealer. generic scanners are not capable of retreiving codes from trans modules/components unless you have a more expensive scanner such as SNAP ON SOLUS or something similar. small scanner for $50 bucks from auto parts store usually doesnt read trans codes. engine codes only. if your O/D loght is flashing that means transmission issue. could be the solenoid pack on the valve body other elecrical component or convertor failure. have it scanned for codes first. then let mr know ehat the number is for the code.

My 2003 Lincoln LS V8 is losing power when i accelerate and makes a little clicking sound at the same time underneath the engine it seems like. The only thing on the dash is a check engine light. what do I...

Must read codes off of the obd-II computer using a scanner for obd-II so that you can know which system is being flagged. This is the first step.

May try to take it to autozone or advance auto parts to have them read the codes for free.

Or, you could purchase your own scanner at Sears or Walmart or your local parts store in order to read the codes yourself, and clear any that are intermittent.

If it's a hard code, as you describe, the scanner will come in handy.

Good luck on this diagnosis.

Check engine light comes on.I can un do the battery cable, the light goes out but comes back on,sometimes about 20 miles or may not come back on in 500 miles

Recommend you have the car scanned for a history of trouble codes. The computer will store the faults even after the light goes out. The light is indicating that the engine computer has detected a fault in the system. The computer uses a number of sensors to monitor what is happening with the engine and perhaps a few other systems in the car. A scanner is used to hookup to the computer thru a connector, usually under the dash by the drivers knees.
The scanner will read the fault codes stored by the computer. Many parts stores, such as Autozone and Advance, will provide a free scan of your car/truck. Your mechanic may have a more advanced scanner that can troubleshoot each code down to the component failure, but if you want to do it yourself (or perhaps with a little help from FixYa), write down the codes and look them up online. The following page lists the standard codes and their probable causes: http://alflash.com.ua/OBDII/EOBDcodes.pdf
This only gives you some ideas for troubleshooting. Let us know if you need help deciphering codes or troubleshooting your codes. When writing to FixYa, please identify your codes and provide information on any symptoms you are experiencing with the car/truck.

Where is the reset for 2007 nissan sentra fuel pump

How To How to Reset the Computer on a Nissan Sentra When the check engine light illuminates on the dash in a Nissan
Sentra, it is an indication that the computer has recognized a problem within its sphere of influence. Once the problem has been addressed and corrective action completed, the computer can be reset by erasing the existing codes.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Code scanner
  1. Step 1 Insert the code scanner's connector into the OBD port located under the dash to the right of the steering column.
  2. Step 2 Turn the ignition key to the run position. Make sure the engine is off.
  3. Step 3 Press the button for "Read" on the code scanner. Within less than 1 minute, the scanner will display all failure codes that are stored in its memory.
  4. Step 4 Write down the failure codes displayed by the scanner. Cross-reference the codes with the code sheet that comes with the scanner. The codes are displayed with a letter followed by a four-digit number code. Deciphering these codes by cross-referencing them with the code sheet offers an explanation of the failure.
  5. Step 5 Turn the key off. Correct the failure so that the computer can be reset.
  6. Step 6 Turn the ignition key on, keeping the engine off. Press the "Erase" button on the scanner. Start the vehicle and allow it to run for 5 minutes. Watch for the check engine light to come back on. If it does, the problem has not been corrected. If it stays off, the problem has been successfully resolved.

2004 trailblazer. Service 4wheel drive light comes on and switch will not change drive from 2wheel to 4wheel drive. Problem is intermittent.

The 4WD in this vehicle is computer controlled. There will be diagnostic codes stored that will aid in proper diagnosis and repair of this problem. As there are several common / expensive failure items, it is best to have the codes read using a proper scanner. Some of the cheaper code readers may not work in this instance and a more professional scanner may be needed to retrieve the codes. Once you know the codes, a better, accurate diagnosis can be made.

FWIW - The encoder motor on the transfer case is a common failure item. The instrument panel switch module is also.
