Replaced front calipers on my 99 Escourt at 65000 miles;2 years and 9000 miles later they must be replaced again! My 68 yr old light driving wife wants to know why?

You need to disassemble brakes, twice a year,to clean off rust and lube required places,so they work correctly.
If this is not done, and No one does what Iam suggesting. Then the brake pads drag, because they can not release, and you wear out your pads in 9000 miles, instead of 45,000miles,I get on mine.
What you have,is what I call & I don't mean to be hurtful, is neglect and break down maintainance.

I have to continuously replace calipers on my jeep, what is the problem?

wonder if the rotors are too slim. If this happens the brakes get too hot as the rotor radiates away the heat. If too hot the brakes could wear out faster.

stop and do not drive, get a brake man, in the loop, danger !

this is cause by the MC, the master cylinder, no ABS in 92
not replacing relic calipers in pairs is dumb, sorry risking life and limb using old 20 year old calipers is not bright. a fact, not opinion.
are both caliper locking, at ONCE?
that is the key question .
reasons. (answer for BOTH clipers locking at once)
1: bad calipers ,no piston lasts for 21 years, ever. (relic)
2: the MC piston is not retraced,

#2 is caused for 2 or 3 reasons,,,,
2a; brake pedal adjusted such that the factory play behind piston rod is not zero or minus, causing the MC to lock hydraulically.
2b; the booster was changed and the PP mechanic (weak) did not
RTM , they did not adjust the new booster, calibration ring stated in the FSM.
3: if one caliper (good) locks the rubber flex line is breaking down
inside and is clogged. 21 year old lines are not good to trust.
not life and limb or mine when you hit me...
that too, is fact.

the guide pins must be free, and antisieze lubed or with special
99cent OTC brake grease (very high temp rated,) ask.
the pistons rust. DOT3/4 is hygroscopic and will rust in 21 years.
not a guess. fact.
One other point, 21 year old caliper seals will no longer have
stiction, they fail to retract the piston and the pad drag. wasting fuel and pads. new seals. better, newly rebuilt Raybestos calipers
will make them safe.
fixing brakes in a serial fashion is asking for trouble.
do not cheap out on brakes.

Before getting carried away with more expensive fixes, I'd replace flex hose to caliper as well, and double check caliper moves freely while at it.

Hi
faulty spark plugs is that the garage/dealer/mechanic said to you ?

Sounds like to me a ignition coil, and your car has 4 so this could possibly mean in the future more visits to the garage, to be sure I can suggest taking off the top engine cover and see if you have 4 grey ignition coils, manufactures name SAGEM, also now factory replaces with black coils.

that shouldnt happen!!! theres a problem there! have the front caliper hoses replaced! if the hoses failed they will cause the caliper to lock up! thus causeing caliper damage! if u replace them again !change the hoses to !youll never have a problem again

Have a 2002 ion that sometimes wont start but if left for 10 mins will start up.

I have 2003 Saturn Ion. I had this problem over and over 2006 - 2008. IT IS THE IGNITION SWITCH. IT IS DEFECTIVE IN ALL ION'S.The replacement may be defective also, not sure. Mine was driving fine, went ino store for 1 hr came out stone cold dead, would not start and key **** in. Had to have towed to Saturn. They said it was battery and replaced battery.I said this did not make sense. 6 yr battery only 3 yr old , never weak start, never run down, in summer? It happened again 2 mo later. They tried to say battery , I said no. They checked battery. It was fine. Could not find problem. They did total electrical check. It happened again 1 mo later. drove into feed store. Went in came out it happened again. I got jump from someone 30 min later and started right up. 2 wks later same, I got jump 20 min later started. 1 mo late same. Sometimes it would just start up. Took to another Saturn place. They said Ignition switch, saturn was having big problem with this on Ions. Got changed and no problems for 1 yr. I was talking to repesentative at Saturn Headquarters. I told the problem. They said the ignition switch has an electrical component, or it is hooked to electrical component. THEY SAID IF I HAD JUST SAT THERE 20 MIN WITH KEY OFF, THE COMPUTER CHIP FOR IT WOULD HAVE RESET ITSELF WHEN IT COOLED DOWN AND I COULD HAVE STARTED IT EACH TIME. IT WAS BEST TO GET REPLACED AND NOT WORRY, BUT THIS WILL HELP YOU IN A STRESSFUL PINCH, UNTIL YOU CAN GET THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED. NOTE: Go to Auto Zone , O 'Reilleys, Pep Boys etc, get a repair manuel , CHILTON $ 23- $ 25 , for your year , make, model car. CHILTON IS MUCH BETTER THAN HAYES MANUEL. It is wonderful and many things you can do yourself.

99 Jeep GC brake lock.

You say they replaced basicly everything that involes the rear brakes.
Every step they took to find the problem could lead to the solution,BUT did they check the inboard brakes. The brake system on a jeep that has rear rotors have inboard shoes for the parking brake.
You could have a parking brake cable that is frozen (this will cause a drag on the inboard brakes. Do you use the parking brake? Maybe the parking brake shoes are adjusted too tight?

Brakes slightly engage after about 10 minutes

well from reading of your problem, i am going to say its the calipers again, witch it could very well be, but there is something else it could be, There is a rubber break hoses that come from the hard line to caliper, there like a two way street fluid runs to caliper and back thru same hose, if there is a restriction or if it got kinked at one time it won't let fluid run back to resavor hence breaks don't release all the way and rub rotors and wear out pads. now calipers will do same thing. most of the time if there used and you squees the piston back in, when they come back out, like when you step on the break they will stick and not release or at least all the way and wear pads out prematurly. so my advise to you is this, new break hoses, new calipers and i think it will fix your problem. Hope this will help. OLD.SCHOOL.
