Question about 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI
Should a 2002 jetta tdi- automatic at 87000 miles need a new transmission-especially since it has always been taken to vw dealerships for any and all work

That specific transmission is known for failure. Sometimes it's premature failure (in your case) and sometimes they have 150k miles, but that specific automatic transmission will always fail.
There are plenty of stories online about premature failure of the 01M VW transmission...
