Question about 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

1 Answer

I'm locked out of my 2002 Jetta. The door lock doesn't work and neither does the remote (new batteries didn't do the trick). I don't want to pay to have the car towed to the dealer. How can I pop the lock? (i.e. Coat hanger etc.)

Don't use that use slimjim available from auto parts and place it around the middle area of the window. Make sure the tool is between the glass and the wheather stripping with the hook towards you. Rock it left to right while slowly pulling up to catch the door release cable. Once snagged, pull it slowly until you hear a clunk. No need to push tool all the way to bottom because the cable is about 10" from the weather stripping.

2008 Volswagen Jetta power locks will not lock doors

Hey- so i had this same problem. Neither of the rear doors would lock/unlock consistantly. All I had to do was spray a ton of WD-40 in the latch area and all around where the red manuel lock lever was on the door and then work that red manuel lock lever back and forth for about 20 min and now it works great! Hope this helps.

2008 Volkswagen Jetta keyless entry & lock problems

If the system is not working even when you press the buttons on the door, then the problem is not with the remote control. I would first check if all the fuses are ok, if they are, I would check the wiring on the door to make sure there are no wires broken of chaffed. Focus first on getting the system working with the door buttons and after that is ok, the move on to the keyless system in case it still does not work. Hope this helps.

97 jetta doors won't lock

I assume the doors can be manually locked. The problem is in the electrical circuit. That means anything from a faulty switch (the lock / Unlock button) to a loose connection. If both switches don't work then look for a blown fuse. If one switch works and the other doesn't than remove the switch and inspect its connection. If it's ok then check the switch. If both switch and connections are OK then you'll have to remove the door panel and access the lock mechanism.

Reprogram keyless entry

It took me a few attempts to program a new keyless remote for my 2002 Chevy Blazer.
Insert key into ignition but don' turn it yet. While holding down the UNLOCK switch on the door, the trick is to cycle the ignition ON OFF ON OFF as quickly as possible then release the UNLOCK switch. If done correctly the door locks will cycle 1x to acknowledge. Then hold both the unlock and lock buttons down on the remote for about 15 seconds. The locks should cycle again to confirm...Hope this helps.
