U only take the brake caliper off to remove the brake rotor if that the problem

Replacing front wheel bearings on 97 dodge 3500 2wd


If its to wheel drive than it will have a inner and outer bearing. 1. Remove the caliper 2. Remove the dust cap from the center of he rotor 3. Remove the cotter pin from the spindle 4. Remove the castellated nut 5. Remove the nut and washwer 6. Remove the outer bearing 7. Remove the rotor from the spindle 8. Remove the grease seal from the back of the rotor 9. Remove the inner bearing Clean the grease out of the rotor. Use a punch to remove the inner and outer races from the hub. Install the new races into the rotor with a seal/race driver. Pack the new bearings. Install inner bearing into rotor. Install new grease seal. Wipe old grease off of the spindle and apply a thin coat of new great. Install rotor ono spindle. Install outer bearing, washer, and nut. Tighten nut snug then back off nut a half of turn and then tighten agin just barely snug. Install castellated nut and cotter pin. After removing the tire, there is a hub type assembaly that appears to be bolted onto the rotor, after plenty of PB oil and some TLC, i managed to break this assembaly free, so i thought i was home free,...

Raise and support the front end on jackstands.
  1. Remove the wheel.
  2. Remove the hub nut and washer. Insert a long drift or dowel through the vanes in the brake rotor to hold the rotor while loosening the nut.
  3. Using a puller, force the outer end of the axle shaft out of the hub. Remove the hub/rotor.
To install:
  1. Position the shaft in the hub and install the washer and hub nut. Leave the drift in the rotor vanes and tighten the hub nut to 173 ft. lbs. (235 Nm).
  2. Remove the drift.
  3. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle.

Back brakes nut for holding rotors, size?


I'm assuming you want to remove the rear rotors. No rear brake rotor nut for holding the rotor on that I know off. I just had my rear rotors off and turned on my 94 Concorde LX.
After removing the tire I diligenty removed the star washers (2) from the lug studs. Then a little spray of PB Blaster around the center hub. Next I removed the 2 10mm bolts holding the caliper to the rotor. A slight nudge with a rubber mallet and the caliper is free, but do support it, don't let it dangle. Another slight nudge on the rotor with a rubber mallet and the rotor literally fell off the car.
There is a rear axle nut and bearing inside of the center hub that is secured by a large 34mm hex nut, on the outside of that a lock ring that looks like a large black bottle cap with a cotter pin going through it for retention. That has nothing to do with removing the rotors. With a little patience, lubricant and gentle tapping, the rotors slide off the center hub. Hope this helps.

mcdevito75 here, They should be knockoffs, That castle nut is holding the hub / Bearing assembly to the axle, and once removed that nut has to be replaced with a new one, so it"s not reasonable that nut has to come off to get the rotors off. Try, remove the tire and lift the caliper assembly off the rotor, use penetrating oil, liquid wrench, W D 40 around the lugs as they may be part of the rotor assembly, Then with a hammer tap moderately around the edge of the rotor to loosen it, keep the gear in Neautrel so you can turn the rotor while tapping with the hammer and use that penetrating oil around the lug studs and around the hub. The rotor should fit around the hub where that nut is and thru the lug studs that hold the tire on the axle.

road wheel off, brake caliper removed from rotor disc, remove cap in middle of rotor exposing the bearing retaining nut, remove split pin that holds the nut from turning and wind off the large nut, once nut is removed you can remove the rotor and bearings, the rear roller bearing at the rear of the rotor may need to be levered off with a screwdriver, should come off easy, replace in reverse order

How to remove brake rotors


Go to a parts store and get a book on this car. $13 You will need a few tools but this is easy to do. You have to remove the caliper to get the rotor off. Good luck. Look on Youtube to see how this is done.

THe rotor is not held on by nut. If you are talking about taking the axle off and axle nut is abut 1 3/4 - 1 7/8

What size is the main rotor nut on a 2003 bmw 325i I think its around 47mm


that would be the axle nut, not the rotor nut and it is 36MM 12 point., this does not have to be removed to remove the rotor!!!

Just want to know how to put the rotors on the car.


If your rotors (new ones) came as just the rotor with no center hub, just remove the brake caliper, take the rotor off and put the new one back on. But, the one i think you have is a bit different...with hub attached. On that one, remove the center cover, cotter pin and nut.
Remove caliper. push on one side of the rotor and the outer bearing and washer will come out. Put the parts aside and pull on the rotor and it will come off. Put the nut back on the spindle and put the rotor on over the nut, "hook" the inner bearing on the nut as you give the rotor a quick tug (like removing it) and inner bearing will come out.
Clean and re-pack bearings and install (I recommend you replace the inner seal.) Put together in reverse order of removal, tighten nut snugly but not really tight, turn rotor while tightening. It is tight enough when there is no wobble in the rotor. that is all you need.Don't forget the cotter pin. If hole does not align, tighten do not loosen nut till hole aligns.

What tool is needed to remove the front brake rotor from a 2004 Toyota Carolla. There is a crimp in the center nut instead of a cotter pin.


Use a small punch and hammer out the crimp as much as possible. Then remove the center nut. The nut should be replaced with a new one. Sometimes a new rotor will come with the nut. If you are refacing the old rotor, you will have to get a new nut from a parts store.
