I suggest you have a compression test run on the cylinders could be a bad valve.

It sounds like u have a cam correlation problem... Take ur cap off mark where ur rotor is pointing on the dist. Mark the firewall where the dist plug is pointing take the 10mm bolt out n look @ the dist gear and see how bad it's worn!! When u take the cap off some times they're so bad when u move the rotor u can tell the excessive play hope this helps!!!!

1983 town car 289 sometimes it starts sometimes not no ignition. replaced ignition module ,throtel position sensor coil dist.cap, and rotor. Thanks

THERE IS A PICKUP COIL IN THE DISTRIBUTOR, IF YOU HAVEN'T CHECKED THAT, IT IS PROBABLY EASIER TO CHANGE THE DISTRIBUTOR THAN TRYING TO CHANGE JUST THE PICKUP COIL. MAKE SURE THE PICKUP COIL COMES IN THE NEW DISTRIBUTOR BEFORE YOU BUY. THE PICKUP COIL OFTEN CAUSES THE PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING WITH YOUR CAR

Getting no high voltage spark from new coil, Power go,es in on side. Put new plugs,cap,rotor,pick-up coil,dist.module.1988 lincoln towncar. Could it be the computer or another module? Checked...

You may have something there. Try another module, since it is cheaper than the computer, then go for the computer.

Also, use a multimeter to make sure there is continuity on the low and high sides of the coil.

97 dodge ram no spark

then i would replace whats called the hall effect sensor its that black plastic plate you see when you take dist cap off. just pull rotor and lift up the sensor.dist cap is what holds it on.also under the sensor will be a stamped sheet metal piece that looks like the top of a castle wall. make sure its not loose on the shaft.if it is then new dist will be needed

Weak spark from dist cap to plugs. spark from coil primary is as it should be. Plugs were carbon fouled from rich condition. this is a 92 bronco 5.8 windsor motor.changed out plugs, cap, rotor, and remote tfi...

The engine is definitely in an over rich fuel condition if you are blowing black smoke. I would suspect a bad 02 sensor, but the flooding condition you describe at starting could be other things. I would check the codes and proceed from there.

No spark to plugs or coil.

Do you have power to the coil with the key in the run position and when cranking? (ignition switch)

We replaced the crank sensor and cam sensor on a new 5.2 engine in a 1998 Dodge Durango. We checked and rechecked the connections and still no spark.

check the wiring harness at the coil, sometimes that plug will get loose or dirty resulting in a no spark.
The only ign system parts are the crank sensor, cam sensor, dist, dist cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires, and coil, and the ecm which controls all of these,is there a check engine light on?
run a scan tool to check for stored codes or system events stored in the ecm.
