Question about 2006 Jeep Commander

1 Answer

Dashboard lights flick on and off

I just baught a 2006 Jeep Commander Limited 4x4 with the 4.7 V8 and I have been having trouble with it. Can help me figure out what the problem might be. Here is what has been happening:
I was driving down the road and all of the sudden all of the dashboard and radio electronics flickered on and off a few times, then when it stoped the only think that came on was the part that tells you if your are in drive or not. I stoped it and turned it off and back on and everything seem fine expect the engine light was on now. I proceeded to drive it home and on the way home the light went off. This has been happening now more frequent and pretty much the same thing occurs each time. The vehicle still runs while this is going on but i did notice if i have the AC on when it happens it will turn off. Also I'm not sure if this is related to it or not but prior to this happening i noticed my radio lighting will dim in and out of brightness. Also I have heard a high pitched squel from the engine area but i thought it may be the belt because when i opened the hood i noticed a lot of pollen and thought that may have been what caused it but since then i have cleaned it and i have heard the same noise. I know this is a lot to digest but any help would be great. I was told jeeps are really good vehicles and this is the first one i have owned and I have seem to have a lot of trouble out of it and have googled trying to find answers and it seems a lot of people have had trouble with these commanders. Again thanks for any help you can provide.

My guess would be that your battery is draining. Get it to a shop and have it checked

Fuel cutoff

what makes you think that.
or what tests , prove that.
btw, if the PCM thinks (by any means) that SPARK is bad, it will in fact cut all fuel. (no crash and burn like on TV @!)
so spark is first. not fuel.

see why? and the engine cant use fuel if spark is 2 reasons.
this is a jeep Grand Cherokee, commander,
and what engine, they have many.

2006 Jeep Commander V8 Iimited 4.7 will my eng light come on at specific mileage milestones? 70k

No. The only time the check engine light will come on is when the computer sees a fault with a sensor, a problem with a component it controls, or a problem with a system that it monitors. Your best bet is to have the computer scanned to see what codes are present. Once you know that post them here and i'll be happy to help you further.

Serpentine belt on a 2006 Jeep Commander, 4.7 liter v8- need a picture of the routing for it

Have you checked your owners manual... also look on the core support as you open the hood for a diagram. They are usually mounted there and possibly on the strut tower or under the hood. Also try your local library or parts store for a manual. I hope this helps you
