SOURCE: Radiator removal BMW 316i

hi, the two clamps that secure the radiator have a small slot on the top, if you insert a small screwdriver into the slot and use it as a pry bar you should be able to unclip the holding clamp and it then releases like a hinge.

SOURCE: bmw 316i

hi markjones, the ignition switch can usually be removed without too much disassembly. First you will need to remove a plastic screw in the upper and lower trim covers. Seperate the covers. You should see a black plastic ring around the mechanical switch. gentley remove the ring. Next remove the rubber o-ring/band. With the key in the iginition and turned to almost to position 1, insert a heavy duty paper clip, or bmw special tool (about $30 from the dealer) into the small hole in the switch. There is a cam in the hole that needs to be twisted clockwise so the cylinder can be removed. When installing a new switch make sure to remove the little tab pice of metal that usually breaks off in the housing. Also be sure to make sure and reinstall the rubber ring/band because they are part of the ews system. If you key turns continuously, or is not able to be removed, the ignition housing and cylinder both will need replaced. Replacing the lock housing is about a 2 hour sequence and can be challenging. I would recommend a shop for that kind of repair.

SOURCE: bmw 316i overheating

check if the water is circulating as you might have a blockage in the header tank. this can be checked by opening the radiator cap and check if the water is circulating on top.

SOURCE: 1997 bmw 316i compact, thermostat??

it may be possible that your heater core was faulty and some has by passed it. open hood and check for incoming and outgoing heater hoses into firewall(dash of car). it is also possible that the heater core is plugged, try getting your cooling system flushed

How do I operate electric rear windows only with front switch at driver if rear switch is broken on a bmw 316 1992 model

You should be able to operate window from main front switch regardless if rear switch is bad. If it does not work from rear door or front door, it is probably not the switch, but the window motor which do go quite often. Take switch and verify it is working by testing with volt meter, next, check to see if you have 12VDC at switch, could be a broken wire, another common problem with older cars.

Okay so I have a 1995 BMW 316I and the windows work only when the door is open can I get some help?

It is likely that you have pinched/jammed wires that run from the main body to the door. There is usually a flexible rubber boot that covers this wiring harness. It is likely pinched or chaffing inside that boot. Pop out one end and see if there is any wiring out of place compared to the rest of harness. Inspect for damage. Tape with electrical tape back into the harness with the rest. Test it. If it works properly, replace the boot back into its recess.

if both windows went at the same time it could be your comfort relay, i think the sunroof is on a different relay, taking it that you have checked the fuses, I paid £17 for the genuine bmw comfort relay and it fixed my window problem

What fuse do i change for the cigar lighter in a 1994 bmw 316i?

If you have a test light, just check your fuses with it. Find a good ground, like the door hinge, and touch each side of the fuse with the key in the "on" position. You just touch the little silver part on the fuse. It should have power to both sides. If it doesn't it's burnt out. Or, you can pull them out, one at a time and check them visually.
