I need to change my front shocks on my 2007 Yukon xl Denali. The bottom of the coil springs are resting on top of a bracket attached to my shock body. Can I compress the springs and drop the shocks down...

yes use two jacks will help you with compressing the springs one at a time and then use the clamps that you can use from Advance Auto Parts to help you to compress them.

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Kit-1--Strut-Spring-Compressor-Kit-(2--piece)-Powerbuilt-Tools_9150007-P_N3492_T%7CGRP2083___

This is the web site what they look like but make sure you have both of them on there correctly or they will come off and KILL YOU so safety first always when dealing with strong springs !!!
