SOURCE: Trunk wont stay up

To re-connect the bar. Have an assistant hold the lid while you reinstall it. I know this part is tricky.First look to the L/S and see a grduated adjustment fixture ( where the rod fell off from ) I would use a 6' 1/2" drive extention with a deep 1/2 " drive socket. The trunk torque bar ( spring ) has a app 3/8"wide end pointing down when held. Place socket/ext over end , applying pressure to turn the pint of the spring towards you, then latch in appropriate groove ( see R/S to gauge groove location ). A pipe can replace the tools. Hope it helps

SOURCE: 2000 Lexus ES300 trunk lid does not fit right on 2001 Lexus ES300

Hi, try loosening the catch on the trunk lid but do not remove it and the lock mechanism, close the trunk lid but not fully, then pull the backseats down and climb into the trunk. Adjust the lock and latch until they meet up and lock together ( This will take some time and patience is essential). Fasten the Catch and Lock back up. Then retry opening and closing, if it still doesnt fit just do the same again, just needs a bit of adjustment.

hope this helps. jonno

SOURCE: Is there a place inside the 2000 Chevrolet

Not that I know of, sorry! There should be a emergency latch release inside the trunk. But that will not help much on the outside.

SOURCE: Trunk lid bars came off

grab a pair of pliers and twist it forward, back onto one of the four spots. watch out though, because when they are pulled up the tension is insane and can snap back REAL quick. i have a hole in my arm from one snapping back and catching me on the forearm when i was installing a new sub box.

Rear trunk lid wont close

There's an electronic actuator inside the trunk door. The actuator opens the trunk lid when you press either the remote keyless entry or the inside trunk release. If the electronic actuator fails it usually fails in the trunk open mode which will not allow you to close the trunk lid. You can either remove the actuator and take the car to the VW dealer, or buy a new actuator and replace it yourself. It's a tough fix, but not impossible for the mechanically inclined.

Trunk latch wont hold shut on my 02 cavalier

Make sure it is not binding/sticking where you pull the release cable.

Drench the entire works in WD-40. Push it back and forth until it moves with no resistance.

Make sure the part that hooks onto the latch hasn't come loose enough to not slide over when it makes contact.

If that doesn't work, take the whole thing off. You'll have to anyway to replace it. Chances are with it disassembled you'll see what's wrong.

Look at the trunk lock itself and see if there is a cable or wire going to it. cable type is generally part of the gas cover release. electric type can be anywhere (look in the glovebox first.) If there is no cable or wire you don't have a second release.
