For 2.0 liter see diagram:where is the ignition coil for a 1997 ford probe - 4e112a4.gif
For a 2.5 liter :
The ignition coil is part of the distributor and is not serviced separately. It steps up the voltage to fire the spark plugs .

Where is the ignition control module on a 1997 ford probe.

Data book says engine ECM is buried in the centre console. That is for a European model but it says it has a distributor.

93 ford probe no spark, gets gas, checked compression replaced cap

you should check power at each one to verify that they have power, which engine do you have 4 or 6 cyl? the 4cyl the coil is seperate from the distributor and the module is located on the side of the distributor, the 6cyl it is all inside the distributor, but to replace parts without verifing power is not cost effective. The most common ignition failure is the ignition module, but you still need to verify that it receives power.
