Where is the fuse for tag lights on 88 chevy c1500 silverado

There is not a separate fuse. The tag light is powered off of the tail lights. If you have tail lights but no tag lights your problem is either bad tag light bulbs or the connections between the tail lights and the chassis ground at the tag light bulb sockets.

My tag light in my 99 Ford Windstar not working even after I changed bulbs

Check the wiring to that socket. Possibly a wire broke or bad bulb socket. The license plate light is only a splice from the tail light wires, so if both or all tail lights work from the park/headlight switch, the tag light problem is right there at the rear. If you have a voltmeter or a test light, check for power to the bulb socket with the park lights on.

2005 gmc sonoma. Tag light isnt working . I was going to check the fuse but cant find tag light listed on fuse diagram. What else would they call it so i can locate what fuse its on. And if its not fuse...

You can check the fuse, but the problem usually is the bulb or the socket contacts where the bulb plugs into.
Tag lights (license plate lights) are exposed to a lot of weather/road exposure and bumps/vibration, which shorten their life.

Rarely is a "tag light fuse" listed. The tag light is typically on a circuit with several other lights or accessories, and most commonly on the taillight circuit fuse, but not always.
Only a wiring diagram or a manual will be able to verify which circuit/fuse it is on, so you may have to check several fuses.

IF it turns out to be a blown fuse, your first step should then be to trace and identify the source of the electrical short (usually in wires by the tag light itself). Simply replacing a fuse is NOT a cure or a good 'repair'.

(As I write this, I have 2 tag lights out on my vehicle,, one which I verified is a blown bulb, and the other due to a badly corroded bulb socket)
Please rate via the helpful button if this helped answer your question, and please post back (via comments) when you discover the actual source of the problem.

Tag light out, bulb replacement did not work.

Follow wiring back checking as you go- It is NOT a independent hot. I believe its just a corroded or shorted connection in line.

Tag light is not working. is there a fuse that will get the light turned back on?

The fuse labeled REAR PARK LP 15A in the right instrument panel fuse box powers the rear park lamps, and the tag lamps. If your rear park lamps are working then you most likely need to replace the tag lamps (bulbs). Use the following procedure to replace the lamps.

To Remove:
  1. Remove the two mounting screws from the license plate lamp.
  2. Remove the license plate lamp from the rear bumper fascia.
  3. Remove the license plate lamp socket by turning it counterclockwise.
To Install:
  1. Install the license plate lamp socket by turning it clockwise.
  2. Position the license plate lamp to the rear bumper fascia.
  3. Install the license plate lamp mounting screws.

How to replace tag light

usually if it's outside access, there are 2 screws to remove the lens to access the bulb.

If it's inside access, look in the back side of the deck lid for hand access to the bulb socket

How to change the license tag light bulb on 2005 Deville Cadillac?

1- OPEN THE TRUNK LID
2-PUSH THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE BULB FRAME TO YOUR LEFT AND PULL DOWN. NOT THE CLEAR LENS BUT THE FRAME AROUND IT.
THE BULB ASSEMBLY WILL FALL OUT SO THAT YOU CAN EASILY REPLACE THE BULB.
3- CANT DO IT? THEN DO THIS. (BE CAREFUL)
TAKE A FLAT BLADED SCREWDRIVER AND PLACE IT BETWEEN THE CHROME AND THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE BULB FRAME AND DO STEP 2.
THIS DOES WORK I HAVE DONE IT (WITH THE SCREWDRIVER) ON BOTH LIGHT ASSEMBLIES.

Tag light replacement

There are 2 screws securing the plastic cover right above the tag on the bumper. Twist them open and replace the two bulbs inside. You may need to use liquid wrench to break the rust on the screws.

How to change tag lights

I had to remove the entire light bar assy by taking every bolt loose to gain access to replace the tag bulbs on my 2000 Buick Lesabre. It is necessary to replace only one bulb so I replaced all bulbs with the new longer lasting bulbs...the bulbs are not expensive just impossible to gain access to them one at a time. It seems like GM made it so you would have to take it into the GM Dealer. A deep well socket makes the task muck easier! Hope this helps!
