My garage claims that I should change out the transmission fluid and also the steering fluid. Mileage is 87K. Do you think this could be a correct diagnosis?

Changing fluids regularly prolongs the life of your car and is always a good investment, I change my brake fluid too at least every two years as it is anhydrous ( absorbs water ) and will damage seals if left.

Do I have to change power steering fluid in hyundai getz 2007 done 55,000 kms?

Too early, unless you took more than 10 years to reach that mileage. Consider both car age and distance travelled, I woud guess at least 75 - 100.00 km or every 7 - 10 years (whichever comes first), but do consult your maintenance manual - should that give shorter intervals, these apply.

Consequences are way less severe than failing to change motor or transmission fluid.

Transmission slipping

You do not give much information in your question, such as make, model, year and mileage of your car. Usually that it an indication of a transmission getting ready to fail. About the only thing that you can try is to take it to a garage and have the transmission fluid drained and replaced. That might help as transmission fluid degrades over time and looses it ability to do its job. This might help if you have a lot of miles or age on your vehicle and have never had the transmission fluid changed.

At what mileage should i have a 2004 suzuki verona transmission fluid flushed and changed? it currently has 46,000 miles on it.

ALL VEHICLES---- get their transmissions & power steering
changed,NOT FLUSHED every 30,000 miles ALWAYS

Flushing will cause problems
Do not flush --- no reason to

Replacing all the fluid, will sometimes put
a problem in, that was not there before

My transmission fluid turned brown. I beleive from getting hot.The bad radiator I think caused this. Should I change the fluid or leave it alone?

You are right to look at the tranny fluid as worn...as it has turned brown. This happens naturally over time and mileage. Depending on the mileage, sometimes it is not recommended to open the transmission pan to change fluid and filter. If over 100,000 miles, check with your local shop for tranny flush or fluid filter change per warranty consideration. You can add a bottle of Lucas Oil Transmission Stabilizer to your tranny without having to drain any fluids. I have used this often on higher mileage cars with great success. The bottle costs about $11. even at your local Walmart:) Read the instructions carefully as the full bottle contents need to be added with engine running and tranny warm. Hope this helps.

Power steering fluid leaking. Had rack replaced, leaking stopped. After a week started leaking again. Resevoir is low after filling with Dexron III. 2001 Hyundai Sonata V6 manual transmission.

Year and mileage? Keep the fluid level up so you don't damage the power steering pump, and return to the garage that serviced it. This sounds like something wasn't tightened properly, and they should correct the problem. It is possible that a power steering hose or the pump itself developed a leak, but, it is most likely something that wasn't tightened properly. That's the best diagnosis that can be given w/out actually being able to see the vehicle.

Transmission issues after transmission flush

Well first off, coolant in the transmission will cause transmission failure if left in long enough. Proving why the radiator failed will be another story.

1988 Honda Prelude (Maintence)

tire rotation, air filter, breather element,
Inspections:
Timing belt for wear and tear
other belts be it V-belts or Serpentine
radiator fluid (older than 3 years needs a flush and fill)
transmission fluid and filter change. if its a manual transmission then change the gear oil
Battery inspection
Ignition system--- Spark plug gaps, wires, cap and rotor and coil inspection.
Motor Mounts inspection
Other things good for a car of that high of mileage are flushing out the old brake fluid and filling with new....same for power steering.
mostly inspections
Last but not least... put a can of Seafoam* into your gas tank and drive it on the highway for at least 30-45 minutes. congrats on your high mileage honda :-]
