Bmw 120d does not have a cam belt,it is chain driven
Servicing can be done by your local garage
Parts /filters etc are average price
When you view one check recent service history
Also try to buy one that has had a recent mot, this will ensure steering, suspension ,tyres etc are in good condition

What kinda tune up can i do to improve gas milage

Hi Richard:
If there is a lot of pitting or corrosion visible, it would not hurt.
Replacing the spark plugs and air filter would help.
Changing engine oil and oil filter may not help with milage but it will make the engine last longer.
Increasing tire air pressure to the maximum rated for the tires will usually result in better milage but may actually increase tire wear rate.
Cheers

Trouble with the car starting it has 55000 miles on it. it eventually starts after turning it over 2 or sometimes 3 times. im thinking it must be the spark plugs

Im not sure if that is the issue or not. It is possible but before I would tell you yes, I would want to know if you have changed the following as it is requested in routine maintenence.
air filter and fuel filter?
routine services? have they been done?
2005 really should not require spark plugs unless you have driven 100000 miles already.
If the answer is yes to all I have written. i would indeed check the
plugs but also consider checking air filter look inside throttle body with the hose off to see if it blackish looking, also try to put some fuel injection system cleaner in your vehicle with at least 3/4 of a tank of fuel.
You may even consider haveing your fuel pressure tested. These are things to always consider when it comes to hard starts.

Hi ive just bought an adui a6 2.5tdi. Its got high milage can i expect any large problems from it and if so what would you recomend to be proactive in this area?

Hi, as long as the engine had has got no loud knocking noises you should be ok as these engines are one of the best they made.

Check for any oil leaks if their are any get them sorted this will ensure you have correct oil pressure whilst driving.

Give it a good service if it hasnt had one recently its best to service say once every 6 months depending on how much driving you do.

When doing a service use high milage oil as this protects the engine and stops any leaks from becoming to bad it is a good option buying more expensive oil this will help prolong the life of the engine.

its also a good idea to buy a fuel cleaner this can be brought from most petrol stations make sure you buy correct type ie for a diesel im not saying you wont but alot of people just pick up the first they see then the car breaks down.
These fuel cleaners work through the fuel system ensuring that it is all clean and ensure that your car is running at its best use this every 3 or 4 months.
Other than that just keep it serviced regular and you should never have any problems these engines pretty much last forever and its a good choice of car to buy.

Let me know if you need further assistance ok

Would you recomend buying a jeep cherokee as a first car?

Im not a huge fan of jeeps. If your looking for a reliable first car i suggest an earlier model Ford Ranger. Great gas milage. Most repairs are simple and most parts are cheaper compared to jeeps.

Less milage for my car 1200cc vaxual corsa 25mpg

Try using a carb cleaner or fuel treatment for a carb car only not fuel injected. Is it fuel injected? check first does help. Make sure the oil level is right and tyre pressure should be around 28-30 psi per tyre.
