Question about Saturn L300

1 Answer

2001 Saturn L300 - Starter cranks but engine won't turn over. Just had the fuel pump replaced and since then it has stalled 3 times and failed to start twice (after sitting for up to an hour it starts right up). Repair shop can't seem to duplicate the problem and says no fail codes show on the computer.

This may or may not be fuel pump related

go to the parts store and buy a fuel pressure gauge
should be less that $50 for a cheap one
have the store show you where to install it and just leave it there until the car acts up again
then you will be able to tell weather you have fuel pressure during your concern

also...during the concern... check to see if you have spark

as smart as car computers are... they are still dumb!
the car computer doesn't understand when you are trying to start the car that you want it to start so you can go somewhere and it doesn't start that this is a problem

2008 Jeep Liberty Starter Issue

cant figure out your post at all !
"When my car will not start it only growls & never roars/never turns over."
it either cranks robustly nor not
then and only the can it start, run
cranks
starts
runs
or maybe stalls
the dealer can fix it , if you demo it and it works.
its not broken then.
if it cranks correctly every time ,say so
that is a failed engine start.
if engine stalls, say so.
if rpm on the engine is real low, too low, say so.

the word turns over means nothing, Im sorry
1/2 say, it means cranking
other 1/2 means its running,
the order is
cranks, starts, runs , and keeps running or stalls.
btw if it stalls, its needs a tuneup'
get one in last decade, (sparks filters)
my guess growls is starter sounds
so if it starter works try cranking with throttle wide open
this is super secret unflood mod. it cuts fuel and clears flooding.
Good engines that fail to start are
bad spark plugs
flooding
starving for fuel.
we discount them 1 by one until. bingo

'04 L300-3 Stalls randomly and won't start until I wait about 5 min. Then starts normal

try replacing fuel filter , and next time you go to start it turn key on let it sit for count to 50 then start see what happens

Saturn won't start it cranks but won't turn over. There is no fire between the coil paks and spark plugs but can't figure out why

Someone would need to check for power and ground at the coils and that the timing belt is ok.

My 96 jeep Laredo will not turn over. I've checked

sorry turns over means ZERO
the crank shaft can spin or not
the starter can in fact spin and crankshaft not.
and some think turns over means, engine runs. now that fact makes turns over, a dead statement.

the word is cranks over, the engine cranks over robustlyl
and then the engine runs.
then runs for more that 3 seconds, and the ASD relay holds. (step by step his works like this ,93 to now)

wont crank ? (clear statement in fact)
cranks ok, (crank shaft spins fast) can be seen and heard.
runs for 3 seconds? and stalls (ASD relay drop out) can be seen.
runs for 5min and stalls. (complex)
runs for hours and stalls. (even more complex)
all are key facts to the solution.

tell more..... tell all it does good bad or ugly
for better suggestions!

I ran out of gas so i put some in now it wont start

After the car is that low that your car stalls, it takes a very long time to get the fuel pumped back up to the engine. keep cranking it. Only in 20-30 seconds bursts so the starter doesn't over heat.
Of course if it tries to start and you get to much gas in the engine, now you have a flooding problem.

i know this is an old post but im having the same problem, the crank position sensor wasn't the problem or the fuel pump,i replaced the cps with a new one and problem never quit and im putting out 48psi on fuel pressure, these are common problems but before replacing them check into it further
