Get the car on a lift, put it in gear and find out where the noise is, guessing isnt going to find it.

What is causing a grinding sound

Bad wheel bearing or the brakes are metal to metal and need the pads and rotors replaced. You gave no vehicle information so that is all I can provide.

FORD FOCUS IS MAKING A RUMBLING SOUND WHEN DRIVING ONLY,

Sounds like either a bad tire or wheel bearing. Check you tires for rough spots or high/low spots and replace if belts are broken. This is a raised area on the tire that will run diagonally across your tire. If tires look OK try moving the front tonthe back and see if the noise moves. To check for a front wheel bearing drive about 50 kms per hour and slowly turn the wheels left and right. If the noise gets worse or louder you need a bearing. For the back younhave to raise the rear and pin the wheels by hand and listen for a roar.

I hear a progressively louder, almost metal-on-metal sound behind my front passenger tire while I'm driving, regardless of braking or accelerating. I was told a couple months ago to change my tie rod soon...

prob a wheel bearing if you think its a tie rod just leave the car off and get under it and wiggle the long arms connecting the front wheels.
if its wheel bearing jack that tire off the ground and try to wiggle it.
ultimatly goto the tire shop and have them look at it.

Loud sounds

You really need to be more specific. Call a doctor and have him make a list of all the things that make your stomach hurt. It could be wheel bearings?

Loud roaring noise in front, steering wheel has vibration, replaced tires didn't help.

Wheel bearings are likly and I've changed many to solve this problem but it's esy to pick the wrong one with e vehical jacked and on jack stands suporting the car by the lower control arms ( normal ride hieght) run the car with a driver and listen to ti run , of course theres no load on the powertrain so there will be some lash ( power on to power decline ) cheack up. The roaring noise can be isolated by puting a sounding bar ( long metal rod ( sr=crew driver)) other against the part till the sound is rounded up rear but possible the carrier bearings in the (rear end) front drive. The axel bearings and on some units the carrier bearing thats in the CV axel on the block. Sounding rod will find and change the noisey part. Professional help is a good idea if you can't carry this out saftly
