You dont need a diagram, just do each side seperately, and look at the other for a guide.

Replace rear brake pads, how to

Hopefully you disassembled the brakes on one side at a time. The other wheel will be the model to follow. Tip take a picture of what you find so you know how the parts should look like when the job is finished. I do wonder if you have drum type brakes vs disk. More info please

What all do I need to take off to check the rear brakes on a 1988 chevy suburban 2500. Where can I go to find pictures of the tear down.

Remove rear wheel and pull of drum ( make sure emergency brake is off).
Purchase 1 year subscription at ALLDATA .com and you'll have ALL info on your truck for a year. Well worth it. You will need some brake tools, local parts store will have them. Rear Brakes will take you to the brink of insanity and cause blood lose without the tools

1989 chevy 3500 4x4 454 rear brake drum removal. Does the axle bolts need to be removed

Can you tell me which type of axle you have?

Full Floating Axles To remove the drums from full floating rear axles, use the Axle Shaft Removal & Installation procedure in Section 7. Full floating rear axles can readily be identified by the bearing housing protruding through the center of the wheel.

Semi-Floating Axles
  1. Raise and support the rear end on jack stands.
  2. Remove the wheel.
  3. Pull the drum from the brake assembly. If the brake drums have been scored from worn linings, the brake adjuster must be backed off so that the brake shoes will retract from the drum. The adjuster can be backed off by inserting a brake adjusting tool through the access hole provided. In some cases the access hole is provided in the brake drum. A metal cover plate is over the hole. This may be removed by using a hammer and chisel.

You may have to back off the automatic adjuster before you can pull the drum from the brake assembly

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Putting water pump on

The water pump goes on with the spigot for the lower radiator hose pointing down and towards the passenger side. I don't think there is a way to post diagrams on FixYa.
