It would be best if you go to a local mechanic and have him read the fault codes first to see why it came on, assuming there are no problems he can then reset it. Most good garages can do this at minimal cost. Once you have the fault code(s), you can look up the reason for the code at http://www.blujag.co.uk, but the mechanic should be able to tell you.

Now the" cruse not available" comes on now and again what sort of money should they charge for pluging it in

Ah that totaly depends on the Garage my local MOT station/tyre fitters will do it for £25 including reset and print out of fault codes, so I would imagine £20-30 is reasonable, Its only a ten minute job. Best to shop around.
You can buy an OBDII reader for about £80 so it's unlikely to be more than that.

While driving to work this morning my 2005 diesel 2.0L Jaguar X type model s. The glow plug light flicked on/off then the engine management light came on and the engine cut out. after about ten minute

Right try this ,disconnect the battery and join the leads together and leave for a while ,say 20 mins then try again but leave the mobile phone turned off and keep it away from the centre consol .The mobile phone signal can and does interfere with the electronics on this model ,long story but it does

Hello. This tends to be all to do with the ABS. Some models have a reluctor ring on each cv joint near the wheel which looks like a castle moulding, but on mine there is a magnetic strip in the wheel bearing and mine corroded which reduced the signal. This caused the abs light and engine management light to come on. Without abs you cannot use the cruise control. It's not an expensive job to replace the bearing or to replace the cv joint if you have the reluctor ring but beware the dealers will try and sell you a whole drive shaft and this is not needed.

Has the fuel filter been chg. lately. If it has, maybe a fuel pressure test is in order. Fuel pump might be geeting weak and does not show up until it gets warmed up. Fuel pumps are a common problem on this type of cars.

Hi Badrick

Firstly, try disconnecting both your battery connections, and with the battery disconnected, turn the ignition switch fully, 3- 4 times ( To just discharge the computers ) Then reconnect the battery cables (pos + ) first.
This usually cures your problem.

Good Luck
John.
