SOURCE: 2000 Ford Focus automatic door locks quit working.

check fuse 63 first.

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical

  • Binding latch mechanisms
  • Binding linkage
  • Misaligned door
  • Central junction box fuse 63 (20A)
  • Damaged wiring harness
  • Loose or corroded connection(s)
  • Circuit
  • Door lock switch
  • Door lock actuator

It could also be your GEM (generic electronic module) which is expensive as it controls a lot of stuff. A scan tool can be used to cehck for fault codes from the GEM.

The easiest option is to purchase a HAYNES WORKSHOP MANUAL.

where there are all the wiring diagrams in the rear (Available on Ebay etc)

If you have a particular Mondeo problem, then this free site can be very useful

Im trying to fit a remote central locking kit to my mk12 fiesta. Could you help with the colour of the wires to join into.

If you have or can get a repair manual, it should have an electrical diagram of the wiring for the locking system on your vehicle. However, if its just a remote locking system for your car doors (I'm assuming that's what this is) then you need only wire it up fitting your current locking system. You will have Power (Red), Source (Yellow), ground (black) and if like a stereo system you'll need a "remote wire" which is a smaller Blue wire which would connect to the ignition IF you have auto locking doors after you put your vehicle into drive and they lock after so much time 10-15 sec or so. If not, there should be no remote wire needed.

I don't know about the doors locking when the car is stationary, but many cars with central locking systems automatically lock when the car reaches a certain speed: normally somewhere between 10 and 15 mph.
