Two items to check on that : most common items that cause that symptom are the fuel pump binding when it gets hot and the crank position sensor that internally shorts out when hot. Can't tell you that is it for sure but that's where I'd begin testing. Proper testing is the only real way of determining problems and no good shop will diagnose without it....you shouldn't either!!! Best manual to work from is chiltons but haynes is also somewhat helpful.

ckp sensor tells the ecm(computor) where the pistons are in order to set off the spark at the rite time, as they get hot the tiny wires inside open and you loose the signal , when cooled the touch and seem to work...for a while...this intermitent electrical problem can be a real pain for us mechanics. change the sensor and all should be fine

Lose all engine electrical power while running then after awhile it restarts for a while

try pulling the overflow bottle and then the ECM. Unplug the ECM and pull the screws out of the face of ECM add thin washers to screws and the reinstall. reinstall all. the reason is that the screws on 96-98 where slightly long and after time the screws would ground out when hitting bumps or temp rises and gauges sometimes drop to zero and car would stall. Sometimes just stopping at stop signs and lights would cause a stall. If it was to hot it would sometimes take a while before starting

Car starts fine after sitting awhile. If you drive awhile then stop and try to restart it won't.

Check the electronics, cam sensor or crank sensor these are the culprits.
