Check the two screws / pins on the side connected to the air / gas flow levers. The screws go into and out of the carb and / or rods itself. Just play with it and hope you didn't leave anything out!

Instructions and an exploded, numbered diagram will be included with a carburetor rebuild kit. You take it apart by the numbered diagram, clean everything with carb cleaner, make sure all passages are clear and not blocked, then put it back together by the numbered diagram in exact reverse of disassembly. Make all adjustments as you go along as the instructions dictate (like float level). When done, a new base gasket, torque down the mounting nuts, and make final adjustments.

84 f150 carburetor out of tune

When you get a rebuilt carb you have no idea what the
applications are for

I suggest you rebuild your own,
that way you have all the settings
& experience when your done

I think the float needs to be set correctly
& maybe the pump if there is anything for that
external

You have to have some knowledge about basic
adjustments of air idle screws

Start about one turn out from seated & then use a
vacuum gauge to get the highest reading & then go in
a 1/4 turn
Can use a tach also or both, then reset the timing

I would have all 3 on motor at once

When done you set the idle screw with air cleaner on

Ive rebuilt a holly 4 barrel carb and the floats have been adjusted right and its leaking between the intake manifold and the bottom of were the carb connects to the intake.what is the cause of that?

You have to have a carb base plate gasket. Mr gasket makes a decent product that i currently use on my 84 F150. remove your carb and inspect the base of it, remove any debris that may be causing it to not seal properly. good luck

You can order rebuild kits at your local auto parts store. Tell them the model, and engine size. They will also need some details about your carburetor, such as - 4 barrel or 2? Follow the instructions in the kit exactly, and replace all the gaskets/seals, whether they look like they need it or not.

How do I identify the make of my 2-barrel carb -

The OEM carb on this model was Motorcraft, and you can get the rebuild kit from Ford or you can look up the model number either in Chilton's manual for that car, or maybe find another (kinda hard nowadays) carb in a junkyard and maybe it still has the tag. You can also research the specs for that motor on a web page of Ford or 2nd party auto parts dealers. I'd bet most mechanics over 40 years old could start you off in the right direction, too.

After pumping the gas alot my truck starts and then shuts off

Check the fuel filter, if ok, disconnect the fuel hose from the carb and ask someone to start the engine, if fuel comes from the disconected hose the problem is in the carb, if not, check the fuel pump.
Make sure before you disconnect the fuel hose to disengage the coil.
