The brake lights won't come on,on my 2009 Elantra

To keep it simple u might check the brake light switch on the brake pedal. It is most likely bad or it might be misadjusted. If u knnow how to use a test light see if it has power and if circuit is complete when pedal is pressed down.

2008 hyundai elantra. All lights work on the rear of the car except brake lights. Fuses are good. no power to break lights when break peddal is depresed.

The most widespread Hyundai recall, affecting up to 531,894 2005-2008 Accent, Azera, Elantra, Entourage, Santa Fe, Sonata, Tucson, and Veracruz models, is NHTSA Campaign 09V122000. It is focused on a malfunctioning stop lamp switch that may prevent brake lights from illuminating when the pedal is depressed (the same switch may also cause them to stay lit after the brakes are released).
Owners of affected vehicles may contact Hyundai Customer Service at 1-800-633-5151, call the NHTSA Hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or visit SAFERCAR.GOV

Hi, the brake switch above the pedal has failed closed. To verify, pull the connector off the switch. If this puts the lights out, replace the switch. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Mushy powerless brakes . changed pads, rotors, powersteering pump.

Mushy brakes are almost always 1 of 2 things:
  1. Air in the brake line; when brakes where changed they weren't bled; this would cause a soft brake pedal.
  2. Most common reason for a soft pedal is a bad master cylinder. Once they become faulty they fail to provide the pressure required to adequately stop the vehicle.
Either way, have this checked out at a brake shop immediately. A soft brake pedal is not something to be fooled with.

2000 Hyundai elantra brake lights will not turn off ? what to do?

Check the switch at the brake pedal, might be stuck in. (ie as if you were pressing the brake). This is probably a small round plastic bar just behind the brake pedal.

hope this helps.

Break lights on hyundai elantra wont switch off

The switch that controls this is attached to your brake pedal itself. You'll have to lay on the floor, looking up under your dash and you'll see a couple of wires attached to the switch that is attached to the pedal. Spray some WD40 all around that switch, pump the pedal a few times and all should be well.
