Question about 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser

2 Answers

We have lost spare keys to Landcruiser. Apparently there is a computerised chip and we have been quoted $2000 to get replacements. The keys are not remote. Can anybody throw any light on how we can solve our problem without this expense. ?

Hi i think the price is verry extreem for a none remote key, i think you would be better off searching the net for toyota itself and get them direct, possibly $300-400 plus taxes or even cheaper, so i think the garage are trying to rip you off try this place ime sure they will be able to sort something out for you link below

2000 DAMN Where from the dealer? All it is, is a resistor in the key. That is probably the price to put in a whole new system? They should be able to order u a key with your vin number. I know you can go to dealer and get a key made that will open the door just wont start it.

So you changed the battery in the key? and this is the problem i suspect that you have lost the chip out of the key when you took the key apart to change the battery ,dont worry its happens to the best of us the phone rings or you get distracted -if you have lost the chip then try the spare key if you do not have one call the dealer and have a spare key and a new chip in your key programmed up-

Lost key what can i do

If you do not have another key you will have to call a locksmith or Mazda dealer. If you have a spare key any place that makes keys can make a replacement unless the key has a security chip. In that case only a Mazda dealer or locksmith can replace the key.

The spare key is the valet key, You can call the dealer and have them cut you new keys for you car. You will need the VIN number and your registration for the car. If it doesn't have chip in it, they can make it for you in a couple of minutes. If it has the chip in it, they will have to order it. Without the chip, the key will cost between $20 and $30 dollars.

Chip in the key may lost contact with your module that receives info. Dealership will probably have to reprogram the key with your vehicle. Don't take long, but they charge $75+ to do the reprogram. We have a guy here that does this work and he does this for Ford, and all other major dealers. He charges $15 for spare cut key w/chip and dealer (him) charges $45 per key.
