2003 Alero, 3.4L V6 118,000 Lacks Power

2003 Alero, 3.4L V6 118,000
Been having a problem for about 3 weeks now. The car intermitently lacks power, mainly below 3,000 rpm. Most of the time it will hit 3,000 and its like switch was flipped on. Plugs, wires, fuel filter were all changed 18,000 ago. Intake gaskets were changed last weekend, along with the trans service, the second one I've done to it. There is no check engine light either. The engine does not have to be put under a load (hill), and temperature does not affect it either. Sometimes its completely normal though, I can't put my finger on it and would like to here what you all have to say before I take it in. Wish I had the equipment to do it myself, I used to wrench at a Lincoln-Mercury Dealer so I'm familiar with cars. Thanks for the help!!

Yup, 110% sure. I decided to take a $30 shot in the dark and changed out the TPS sensor, didn't fix the problem. The car is going in Saturday morning to get looked at, let's hope it's nothing crazy.

Can you get a hold of a scanner like a bdm pro or such, not a code scanner but a real time reader with snapshot, is seems to me that there is a discrepancy in the between sensore and actuators, i had a similar problen which was a bad tps, but would not set codes, also a fuel pressure guage that can be read in thecar, have someone reading readings while you drive and look for any spikes or drops , i know its a lot to ask but i worke din a diagnosis shop for years and we dealt with lost causes, also check for air getting into the fuel system , it may not leak fuel but is pulling air in, hope this helps

Testimonial: "Thanks for the pointers, a TPS was an idea I had but I didn't want to take a shot in the dark. Also, I didn't think of the fuel pressure, cool, I'll check it out. Thanks again! "

It's worthwile to have the car put on a diagnostic machine that checks the computer. I think I rented one of these cars, and it's a fine ride.

Check for vaccume leaks and also you PCV valve. check the hose too. Visually inspect every vaccume hose you can find. Sounds like a leak .
