The wiring for the switch runs out of the seat belt and down into the door. You'll have to remove the door panel to get to it.

I would find the connector in the door for the switch and connect the two wires together, that will bypass it.

You'll welcome. I have the same set up on my Jetta GLI. I always think my starter or ignition switch has gone out everytime I forget to connect the seat belt, LOL

Hi,
I would give VW a call.

Have you checked the fuse box? There should be a dedicated radio fuse.

1996 VW Jetta 4.0 cyl Gauges are going out/Dashlights...

I have the same problem, I own a 1996 VW Jetta Trek Edition,
I suspect the dashboard instrument panel is going out,
or it is the wire harness.
Everytime I hit a bump on the road one of the gauges acts up.
So I am going to replace my whole dashboard instrument panel
and see what happens, if that doesn't work, then it must be the harness

No spark, '95' VW Polo

i assume you checked all your fuses. if you have no spark coming from the distributer you need to see if there is power going into it. and the ecu tests okay you might have a bad distributer.
