Is this an automatic or manual trans?

There should be a total of eleven (11) bolts that secure the trans to the engine. (I'm assuming you have a 6 cylinder). The engine will have to tilted down slightly as well as the trans. Once you have verified all bolts are removed that secure the trans, you may have to shake the trans to break it loose.

I assumed all the linkages were already removed and you just had difficultly in getting it loose. All linkages and components need to be removed. Nothing should be attached to the transmission. At this point it may be a good idea to pick up a Chilton manual as a guide just in case, this is a big job to say the least.

Trying to change the water pump on my Isuzu Trooper-1991, 4 cylinder...Removed belts and pulley, but having trouble removing LOWER (crank shaft pulley) pulley bolt, 15/16th I believe? How can I remove...

Sometimes you have to heat the head of the bolt with a torch the use an impact wrench to break it loose.

If you don't have access to the above, you can remove the starter motor and jam the flywheel with a screwdriver or something and use a long breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt. (Kind-of the hard way, but it can work)

If you are replacing the water pump, it is recommended that you also replace the timing belt and the belt tensioner pulley while you are in there. I also personally recommend replacing the camshaft, crankshaft, and oil pump shaft seals. This can keep you from having to go back in there because of an oil leak. If this is all done at the same time, there will be no need to go back in there for another 60,000 miles.

How do I change the transmission filter in a 2001 Isuzu Trooper

Jack car up, remove drain plug and drain fluid, once it has stopped dripping, remove all the bolts around tranny pan, lower tranny pan, remove the bolt or 2 bolts that hold in the filter. Replace with new filter and new tranny pan gasket and reinstall the bolts.
Then add new fluid, with foot on the brake and vehicle running, shift to each gear for 5 seconds, repeat three times and this will bleed any air out of the system and you will be good to go.

According to the manual, the bracket can not be removed, until the pully is removed. You have to insert a screwdriver through one of the pulley holes to hold it, then break the bolts loose. You should be able to get to all the bolts on the bracket now.

You'll have to rock the alternator back and forth to get the bushing that the lower bolt goes through to slide back enough for the alternator to slide out.
