I don't see how that could of happen. They clip on.I had problem with wiper not returning home when you shut them off.Replaced motor from junk yard.Complete except for wiper arms.Three bolts to remove.Do I need to rotate the motor 180 degrees?Thought maybe it could be the relay in fuse box. Can't get that off.Wiper arm in the way.

  • Robert Greimann May 11, 2010

Part numbers are the same on motors.Tommorow I will rotate motor.Do I remove the 2 arms going to motor? And rotate motor 1 turn.

  • Robert Greimann May 11, 2010

3 of the soutions to this said there is a plastic gear in the motor that tells the wipers to go home.Another said there was a relay in the fuse box number 9 that tells it.But you think it's in the wand. That's the switch right?Don't think I can fix that. When I looked at it.I would have to pull the steering wheel.

  • Robert Greimann May 11, 2010

OK I'll get back to you tommorow.

You may have connected the linkage to the motor backwards, which would make them go the wrong way. You may need to disconnect the linkage and move the wipers and reinstall the linkage.

My bad, that's what I meant to rotate the motor 180 degrees then install, that way you start with them going up instead of down.

then u have them mounted wrong side.. Rotate 180 degrees,, Are u certin its the exact motor... Switch the polarity on the wires..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali May 11, 2010

yes actually thats what you do.. However i dont think the motor will cause the wipers to get stuck half way when turned off.. thats reserved for the switch.. rotor the motors first and tell me what happens..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali May 11, 2010

nah you dont have to pull the wheel,, If you look at the case that has the wheen you will notice some screws underneath it,, simply remove them,, then remove the lower part of the dash that holds the case in place.. now the switch will be exposed and all u have to do is unscrew it ..

but for get about that for the bit,, flip the motors and lets see what happens..

Carefully extract the wiper arm out from the axle. In some cases you need to use an extracting tool. Heed of the windscreen !!!
How to change a wiper motor & repair wiper mechanism on Audi A4

First time you must diagnose why windscreen wipers going slow and/or stopping.
In order to find out the cause of wipers stopping you can try follows:

1. Carefully extract the wiper arms from their axles (two pieces). In some cases you need to use an extracting tool. Heed of the windscreen !!!
2. Disassemble the plastic covers from the bottom of the windscreen.
3. With the bonnet up you can start the engine, (transmission in "N" or "P" position and parking brake on). Now you must switch on the control lever of the wipers, and go to the engine compartment. If the wiper motor runs let the wiper motor running for a few minutes and switch off. Go to the step 4. If the wiper motor do not runs you must check first the electrical feeding of the motor. It is necessary to unscrew three bolts of the mechanism and disconnect the electrical coupling (difficult assurance). If the electrical feeding is OK you must replace the motor - steps 5, 6, 7. If not you must check electrical connections, the control switch of wipers and electric cables.
4. Now you must check the two bearings of wiper mechanism with your hand. In the most cases the left bearing is out of order (is very hot). This is the most encounter fault of the wipers running at Audi.
5. For have enough space to manipulation the wiper motor together with their mechanism you must extract the plastic cover of the engine computer box, and extract also the box screws. Then you can move slowly the engine computer box, just for a few milimeters.
6. You must disconnect the electrical coupling of the motor (difficult assurance), unscrew three bolts of the mechanism and extract together with the motor. You must move them slowly between windscreen and engine computer box until the wiper motor go out together with the mechanism. This is the most difficult operation!
7. Now you can repair the bearings, replace entire wiper mechanism or replace the wiper motor. It is not very simply, but it works.
Heed of the windscreen !!!
Refit all in reverse order.

1990 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup. Windshield wipers, Cruise Control

May want to look at replacing the wiper circuit board. It is located on the firewall adjacent to the wiper motor and has a some what square black cover with 3 torx screws and wireing harness pluged into the side.We had a truck that every time you washed it the wipers would stay on until it dryed out.You can try removing it and spaying it down with contact cleaner just watch the brease on the two contact tips.Well hope this helps.

1997 Audi Quatro A4 Wiper allingment problem

Hi, what you need to do is where the wiper is attatched their is a plastic cover covering the nut that holds the wiper blade onto the motor this is located at the base of teh wiper blade arm. Not under the bonned its on top their will be plastic cover pull this off it should pull up with your hand or use screwdriver then under this their should be a 12 or 13ml nut undo this.
Once you have undone this you will see what the wiper is splined onto you need to pull the wiper up off this spline you might need to lever it with screwdriver gently. Once it is off you will see that the spline and the wiper blade arm has grooves that help you allign it now you move it untill you have it in the right possition.
(do this with the wiper in its resting possition then adjust it untill the blade no longer goes further than it should.

Hope this is some help to you let me know if you need further assistance

02 audi a4 quattro wipers won't park

If you can move the wiper arms by hand then the 13mm bolt on the motor has worked loose, remove the plastic windscreen trim under the bonnet , close the bonnet , then operate the wiper motor for 1 cycle , switch off , open the bonnet , loosen the 13 mm nut on the wiper motor , push wipers down to the park position , tighten 13mm nut up , close bonnet then check wiper operation , they should now park in the correct position .
