Question about 2002 Nissan Sentra

1 Answer

'02 Sentra Ser - Sputtering Engine My engine is intermittenly sputtering and sounds like it's not firing on all 4 cylinders. The worst part is I don't know when it will start as it suddenly appears, the car will vibrate under acceleration, 1/2 the power to each gear, then my CEL flashes, lasts for maybe 5-15min, then goes away as fast as it came. I thought maybe it was an electrical problem but the dealership says the computer shows no record, then maybe i need new spark plugs. Anyone with the same problem or know of a solution?

Had a similar problem but that was down to dirty fuel, by topping tank with new clean fuel problem cleared. Would have worked quicker if I had been able todrain tank and start from empty. If you do try this have a safe storage container and fresh fuel on hand to put fuel back in to the tank. Hope this helps.

I have a 2004 NISSAN SENTRA SE R SPEC V (Nismo), my car sputters

You have 2 Problems, First problem batteries dying you have to make sure connections secure and alternator is charging your batteries (go to an Autozone or Discount advanced they will tell you). The Sputtering is either a bad SPARK PLUG or a damaged Cable going to the spark plug..Change them every 2 years.

Pressure buildup in the gas tank which causes the car to sputter and die unexpectedly.

I have never seen or heard such thing. You have a different problem. Is the "check engine light on?" Gas tanks have pressure in them on regular bases and I have never seen car sputtering because of a pressure in the gas tank.
