Question about 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SE CA Value

1 Answer

I need to know which fuse runs the cooling fan on the engine of a '96 Pontiac Bonneville SSE. I would love a diagram of the fuse box. I was adding an air compressor for the AC and when I finished the cooling fan had stopped working. I've tried, but am not able to tell which fuses are active and which ones aren't. Would love some advice.

Hi there are relays for the fans, one for low and one for high cool. They are right below the fuses under the hood infront of the passenger.

Why doesnt the cooling fan work on my 1995 pontiac bonneville sse

If car is overheating, use a test light to check for voltage at the fan connector (while car is running and hot). If there is voltage, replace the fan motor. If not, find the fan relay in the engine compartment relay box and interrogate the relay. If the temp sensor is good and the PCM is good, it should be sending a command signal to the fan relay to turn the fan on.

Please see my tip at . and scroll down the post to #2. These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

1993 pontiac bonneville electric cooling fans relay location

Hi, check.........I need to know which fuse runs the cooling... on this forum thread. Its not a fuse if the fan turns but could be fan relay. Unplug the coolant temp sensor lovated just below the thermostat houing and see if the fans come on. If they do, it might be the coolant sensor that is bad.

Hi, I have a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SSE. I don't have any heat, nor does the fan blow at there a fuse for this, or?

yes there are fuses but there will be other instruments running off the same fuse! If everthing else seems to be fine than i would go directly to the blower located on the fire wall and change it!

Fuse box

CHeck the owners manual index or the back side of the fuse box cover place they are usually in both locations. If neither are available you can order a owners manual on line or with the local dealer. The parts store should have a repair manual for your car also with this information

1993 Pontiac SSE A/C compressor not turning on.

The a/c compressor will only turn on if it is full of refidgerant and presure levels aren't too high on the back side of the compressor. Check these first. Only use the appropriate type ie, r-12 or r-134 unless it has been flushed and retofitted.
