For just a little bit more $ you can buy a complete axle already assembled. If you have Universal joints (not c/v, with boots), then yes they are fairly easy to do but you need to remove the brakes, rotor and hub bearing to get either of them out out. (easy instructions in haynes or chilton)

1991 ford tempo can't get axel shaft back in looks like a pin is in the way how to correct

I can't picture the problem in my mind? Does the picture help anything? Is the pin inside the transaxle? If so, can you move the pin up or some way? Do you have the correct halfshaft? I don't replace cv joints, I replace the whole halfshaft. The picture isn't very good.

Should be the same, as the model went from 94-97. I've done mine and the write-up looks good.

Why does my 2002 pt cruiser make a popping sound from the rear passenger side when turning. Is something about to fall off?

if it only does this during turning could be a few things, possible control are bushings, tie rod/rod ends, ball joints, or axle granted the axel usually is a clicking sound not popping but has been known to pop also if its ball joints or tie rods/rod ends it take a long time and really bad wear to come apart but generally doesn't happen very often so don't worry about anything falling off just check those things listed and replace what it is soon and you will be fine

hope this helped

Clicking in front passenger side of my 97 ford thunderbird lx

most likely it is you CV-Joint, it is a good idea to change out both sides. it is also cheeper to put a whole new axel in vs rebuid. does it do it worse while making sharp turns? thats the issue- if it gets too bad the axel can snap and the wheel can fall into the fireing wall leaving you stranded.

What are the symptoms of a bad CV joint on an all wheel drive Volvo

if your cv joint is going bad check the rubber boot located on your front axel if there is a tear in the boot once dirt gets inside the boot depending on how long youve had the noise the cv joint will have to be replaced sometimes the first signs are a clicking noise when turning coming from the cv joint if you catch it early you may get away with just replacing the boot there are two ways of doing this depending on the vehical one is to buy split boot it wraps around the axel and is held together with tiny bolts and nuts the axel doesant have to be removed useing this type you still have to remove the damaged boot and clean the cv joint thoroughly i suggest useing brake parts cleaner be carefull not to get it on any rubber parts or lines then before installing the new boot pack the joint with grease and the boot the other way the old joint must be removed you will have to remove the complete axel assemble the new joint and axel will come as one unit depending on the vehical your balljoint or joints may have to be removed also this method to me is the prefferd way this will assure all is new its more involved but better in the long run

How do you change a cv joint on a 1992 dodge caravan? The right cv joint is out. Do we need to replace the right axel or can we just change the cv joint?

You need to replace the whole right side axle shaft. Take the ball-joint loose and the axle nut. Pull the shaft from the hub assembly and then pull it from the transmission
